Balls per tank size?

just curious if anyone has ever done a comparison as to how many balls they can shoot with various tank sizes?

for example i know i can shoot about 400 balls with my 48/3000 b4 i start to see poor performance... but has anyone ever compared a 48/3k to a 60+3k to a 50ish/45 or a 60+/45?

just curious what the increase in performance equals...
thanks

Varies with the gun you're using and its settings. Bigger the cubic inch, the more you'll be able to shoot...same with psi.

like dude said..varies significantly per gun. If you want rough ballpark, try using 20balls/1cu@4500 and 15balls/cu@3000. That will give you SOME idea..a rough minimum.

Performance of the marker does not vary by tank (removing the regulator quality comments). Marker 1 using a 48/3k or a 68/45 will just have different shot capacity.

Markers tend to have a "useless" space around 200psi left in the tank. Most people use 500psi as a rule of thumb because this depends on things like OP and the regulator.

Im aware that it varies per marker... I was wondering if anyone tested different sizes with the same marker

Shooting between 250-300 feet per second:

For pumps:
24 shots per 12g CO2
200+ shots per 3.5oz CO2 tank
200~ shots per 13/3000 hi-pressure nitro tank

(57 shots per ounce of CO2,
15 shots per cubic inch of nitro)

For mechanical semi-autos:
500 shots per 45/3000 nitro tank (at around the 450th shot begins the declination in range)

For semi-autos try to get numbers that match or exceed these

Those are "good" numbers, but try to exceed these
Small tanks give you less of a downwards curve as shots / pressure run out quickly after you notice feet per second drop

You can usually find people that have tried a 48/45 and a 68/45 on the higher end markers. If you find a shot count on one, you will find the shot count on the others. Example: i get 1500 shots off my victory on a 68/45 or 22 shots per 1cu. On a 48, i should get roughly 1056 shots.

Your original post had two questions "quantity per tank" and a "performance per tank". The first is easy, the second has been addressed for years.

The second question can be answered: As long as the tank regulator recharges as fast as the gun can shot, you won't experience shot down or performance problems. I have not heard a tank regulator not recharging fast enough for a VERY long time. Some manufacturers claim they get more "usable" air from the tank (GA for instance) reducing the "waste" as the bottle loses PSI and can't open the valve in the tank reg.

If you know how many shots you get with a specific tank, you should be able to get a rough estimate of what other tanks can do using ratios. For example, if you want to know how many shots you will get out of a 48/4500 tank, the pressure is 1.5x the pressure of a 3000psi tank and the size is the same. That means that 400 * 1.5 = 600 shots from a 48/4500. If you want to know how many shots you get out of a 68/3000, you know the pressure is the same and the size is different. 68/48 * 400 shots = 567 shots.

Using ratios, this is what I estimate your shot count to be:

68/3000: 567 shots
45/4500: 600 shots
68/4500: 850 shots

These numbers assume that your 400 count is accurate and you are completely filling the tanks.

Varies greatly by gun and particularly gun type.
In general:
Stacked tube poppet: best efficiency generally a more choppy shoot (ie more kick)
Spool valve: least efficiency and smoother shoot
In line poppet: in the middle between spools and stacked tube

This varies between markers for sure.
