Also, I wouldn't call it a "baby blower."
edit: Estimated install time on the 3.0T= 30 minutes

Are we talking about the 3.0T or the 4.2 SC kit? The 4.2 is a little baby heaton. I'm sure it will be like $10k or more. Ridiculous. Super expensive, tiny blower that will make like 5psi because the motor is not designed for boost.

lolwut? It's the same blower for the B8 RS4/RS5, R8 V8, 3.0T. Several applications. TVS 1740. Never before used. An OEM just contracted for a significant order so it's being put into development.
The current 4.2SC kit is for the B7 RS4. Completely different from the one APR just announced. Also produced ~120whp gain. Yes, crazy expensive, but not futile.

Not flat black. Some sort of gray. Looks pretty good IMO. I'd never do it though.

3.0 is designed for boost at least, the 4.2 is not. TVS is made by eaton, which is the oem for many other manufacturers. Its a roots blower which is not as efficient as a twin screw design which is why everyone takes those eatons off cobras and other cars that come with them and put whipples on.
Weistec is using Whipples on AMGs and with great results. APR is probably using such a whimpy blower because they know the motor (4.2) cannot really take much boost without significant internal work.

There are reasons they have not used Whipple. Look into PES... Those morons have been trashing 4.2s for years now and the cars are slower than NA 4.2s. RS4s with a tune and 2.75" full exhaust were faster. They are making a whipple kit for the R8/RS5. Watch and see what a fail that is going to be.
Total potential is not everything. Powerband, cooling, fitment, and tuning all are just as important.
I know TVS is made by Eaton. The TVS R1740 has not been used yet by any manufacturer. An OEM just put in an order for them and that gave APR the ability to get their own. The 4.2FSI has forged internals so its not necessarily the internals that limit the boost. It also has a high compression ratio...

The fact that PES can't tune doesn't mean the eaton is a better choice than the whipple. High compression which they really should change before they boost it. I don't believe any 4.2 car has really made a lot of power with a blower.

The fact that whipples are theoretically more efficient doesn't mean they are the better choice either.
The APR RS4 on measly TVS 1320 gained 120whp... not bad IMO. The 1740 has much more potential. Let's wait and see how it performs.

Also heatsink. Some guys with both brands including eatons will have a hard time bracket racing because they can't cool it down fast enough. There are the guys with their hoods open and ice buckets all over and in their intake.

GTI is in the shop for the 5th time now (3rd shop). The lower bumper has been replaced once, the painted bumper cover was fixed twice and replaced once, the trunk edges have been painted twice, and they can't get it straight. They do all the cosmetic work first and insist there won't be fitment problems, then you shut the trunk and it scrapes.

Wouldnt start, had to pull the motor to replace the engine harness, e gear harness , and take apart the interior (to pull the motor and to change a body harness) and some other electrical **** that got corroded from a water leak.
