I got word back from the shop that the set ups only going to be $40 before tax.

But to get the guitar re-wired to the Vol/Tone it was before (remove wrong pots, take out coil split) it'd be $75, but he needs to take a loot to see what it's really going to cost.

I started ****ing with my Floyd Rose equipped Les Paul the other day, it seemed like it was set up for 11's and I had 9's on it. Took a spring off the trem and tightened the tension screws a little. Now it's perfect. Now I just need to learn to stop resting my hand on the trem when I strum lol.

I gave up on the trem on my RG. I'm a DIY kinda guy though, I'm sure a tech can get it to stay in tune after breathing on it. My Mustang's trem has better stability than my only guitar with a locking system lmao.

What Edge is on it? I have an EZ and currently have the ZPS back in it, no tuning issues whatsoever. ZPS makes it a little bit stiffer than a regular fully floating bridge, you can rest your hand on it as hard as you want and never push it off balance. If you have a quality Edge that isn't missing any pieces, I guarantee you it'll be stable as anything once it's set up properly...how level is it right now? Also, like always, make sure you ONLY tune up to pitch, never down.

It's an edge 3 on an RG5ex1 (pretty much the 370 with a reverse headstock) so the hardware isn't the greatest. It's parallel to the body. I do like the guitar but I don't pick it up as much as I'd like. I haven't had the bar in for quite some time so it's really not a big deal. One day I'll get it professionally set up. I probably won't be able to put it down lol.

Nice, it might just need a spring adjustment if you're using a heavy gauge, they come with 9s. If you end up needing any parts (highly unlikely), Rich Harris (www.ibanezrules.com) carries just about everything for everything Ibanez. I'd check with him before laying $100 down to have someone else check it out, he gives information for free and is a phenomenal tech

Soldering is pretty easy and very useful. Have fun. Just be patient and don't overdue it.

Yeah, I'm gonna get a big *** roll of similar gauge wire, and practice before I do anything.

I still need to buy the pot and a grommet to cover the tone hole, since I'll be taking it out in order to achieve my Jackson version of an ESP M-II, sans OFR and 3-way toggle.

Bought an amp today, an old Hughes and Kettner Attax 100 combo. Sounds good enough on Youtube, so I should be able to find a tone I like with it.

Why's that?

Picked up a Deltalabs tube overdrive at GC today for $20. Not a Tube Sceeamer but I like it for low gain overdrive and it was super cheap.

Also, I'm kind I wanting a compressor pedal, what's everyone like? They had a used Snake Charmer for $100 I kept eyeballing but I've never used one and didn't have the time to demo it.

If you want to go cheap, a CS-2 or 3 will do you good. If you want something boutique and nice, go with a Barber Tonepress or one of the Keeley ones.

I've yet to find one with the best tone/price ratio enough for me to actually pick one up. But I know I could get some use out of one.

Have you guys tried the pedal clone kits you see on eBay? I'm tempted to put one together, currently the only effect I use is the Green Rhino OD/boost. My Crybaby can't cut through the distortion or gain from my Crate for some reason, regardless of the level, even though it's great through my cheapy Marshall and B-52 ATX.

I see the Keeley ones all the time. But I know what you mean about the price. My local GC gets tons of used pedals in so I always watch the used case like a hawk for something worth having.

I look at them all the time, been wondering if they're worth a damn

I try to avoid clone kits that aren't from places like BYOC or other sites I trust simply because not everyone feels it necessary to include good quality components in them. One or two ****ty links in the circuit can really make a difference in tone.

I like these places:

http://www.buildyourownclone.com
http://www.madbeanpedals.com/index.html

And these are more for getting ideas together for builds, and collecting the components on your own:
