I am trying to teach myself graphic design now, so i can Freelance that too, but man it is hard.

I personally use FCP 7. Love it.

Do you own any equipemnt?
i curently intern at a production company here in chicago (big shoulders digital video) which is cool because i have some cool stuff on my resume like E! News, mcdonald's, IBM, del monte foods, and now espn.

I also ran score bug for MeTV/wciu's Game of thr Week, which just ended and paid good.

i own my own 5d II, but never have time to use it cause of working.

I started making bmx videos with windows movie maker.

Till my friend introduced my to Adobe Premiere CS6!
Dear gosh, I didn't know video editing till you hop on that thing. I started using it 2 months ago and still don't know how to fully use it. Every time I learn something new. Really cool program. I'm going to take a class at my college about it. Should be fun.

But moviemaker is more than enough for basic movie stuff.

Thoughts on...

I want to get serious about elevating the videos for my scenario team this year and keep seeing the raving reviews for Cyberlink PowerDirector 11 Ultimate. Has anyone used it? How does it compare to the other main names mentioned in this thread?

I agree with most of what Page 1 had to say.

When I was using a MBP I primarily edited through AVID or simply iMovie for quick and dirty edits. FCP is phenomenal as well. I found, though, that for most projects you're not really using much of the high tier use of these systems, and you're barely scratching the surface for personal projects.

Now a days I, honestly, just use Vegas on Windows. It's powerful enough to do about 75-85% of what you could possibly need for most projects, and it's an extremely simple interface to use. Once in a random while I may still run AVID, but it's very rare.
