No. It might be unpleasant, but you'll be alright.
edit: But if you are really worried, buy a neck guard.

I have a neck guard, I just don't use it. I can handle the pain of a hit in the neck, it's just I've heard stories of people dying by getting hit in the neck, and was wondering what would happen if a paintball hit me in the Adams apple and didn't break

I played pretty religiously with a neck protector for the better part of 15 years. Took a trip to an indoor field three hours from home, and found when I got down there that I'd forgotten the neck protector. Oops. Given that I nearly never took neck hits, I went without... and promptly got hit in the neck in the first game out. Like, off the break, the other side nailed me right in the throat. It wasn't exactly fun, but it wasn't "lying on the ground choking" either. Second game, I got hit in exactly the same spot. Still not fun, but still not intolerable.
Haven't played with a neck protector since then. I take great cares to protect, shall we say, other body parts. Some bits should be protected as regularly and effectively as we protect our eyes.

I've taken bouncers to the neck, too, especially while reffing. Same sort of deal, not something you seek out, but not any more dangerous than any other hit/bounce.

if it was dangerous there would be more regulations to neck protection, you'll be fine.

It'll leave a welt, and you'll get over it.

I actually heard your adams apple explodes and releases a chemical into your body that eats you from the inside out........
It'll hurt. You'll live. You'll play on.

Bounces don't transfer any more energy to you than a break does (actually I think it might transfer less, I don't remember Physics well enough) so taking a bounce isn't any more dangerous than a break.
I've never worn a neck protector. I have been shot in the throat once up close and that was really bad (like couldn't breath for a few moments, hurt, etc) but the odds of you getting seriously hurt from such a thing are fairly miniscule.

I don't know about the physics but bounces hurt more than breaks do, thats for sure.

I took 3-4 shots at close range from a ramping DM once right on my adam's apple.
My airway closed up for about 10 seconds. Scariest experience I've had while playing paintball.
Since then I've never played a game without neck and knuckles covered.
I find neoprene protectors uncomfortable, though, so I usually just wear a shemagh.

I was a catcher in baseball and took a foul ball off the throat on two separate occasions and this wasn't little league this was college 91 mph fast ball skipping off the bat and I was fine if I can survive that and the 10,000 neck shots I've taken playing paintball for the last 12 years you should be perfectly fine

if your afraid of getting shot in the neck but don't wanna look like you are try to find an old bunker king bandanna, basically a stylish neck gaurd.

On average NPPL and semi players can satisfy their girlfriends and wives much better than PSP and ramping players :)

Idk about you guys but, whenever I get shot in the neck it doesn't hurt, I'm just in shock that I got shot in the neck.

Never said I was a student of physics but I would like some explanation (if you're going to bring back a 4 month old topic you should probably do more than just say "You're wrong").
Each shot has an amount of energy in it, correct (Kinetic Energy = 1/2 mass*Velocity^2 if memory serves)? Regardless of it bounces or breaks it has the same amount of energy in it; it can't gain energy by hitting you and bouncing off.
I suppose the impulse of a ball that breaks is lower than one that bounces because the ball that breaks breaks over time and delivers that energy over an interval whereas the ball that doesn't break delivers it all at once in a lower time interval but it's still the same amount of energy in the projectile.
But again this is all half-remember physics from 5+ years ago so if anyone knows better I would like to be enlightened. This is just how I always thought it worked. Regardless of how wrong I (probably) am, the point is the insurance companies definitely wouldn't let you play with a dangerous projectile so if the energy in a ball was enough to cause serious damage to someone's throat they would probably mandate throat protection like they mandate eye protection.
