Saab 9-3?

Hey guys, I am in the market for a new car and just curious as to what your thoughts are on a Saab 9-3. I will have about 8k to spend and am looking for something 06' or later.

I have 2 '99 9-3s they weren't the most reliable after 100+K miles so if you're going to get one get as new and as low mileage as you can. V6 turbo ftw. I'd also look for 9-5 aeros as well

Since 8k would be my limit, and most of the newer 9-3's in that price range have about 80k miles, would it be a good idea to save up more and get something with lower mileage?

Kind of phrased my question wrong but I meant to ask was 80k a lot of miles for a newer model 9-3?

That is if I were to buy a 1999 model. Which I have no intention of doing...

They didn't get anymore reliable, just added on more unreliable electronics as they aged. Motors and transmissions are solid, just some suspension parts, and supporting electronics/sensors fail after time. Super easy to take care of yourself if you know what you're doing around cars, but super expensive if you have someone else do the work.

Thank you, the only thing that I can really do related to cars is change the oil... but my dad is a former mechanic so I am sure he could lend me a hand if something does fail.

Let your dad look over the car with you, a decently maintained saab will go the distance 130K and 162K for mine, but a poorly maintained one could equal a dead car.

engine/trans in 03+ 9-3's are very good

electronics and suspension are a whole other story

I have an 06 aero with 110k on it, only things I've had to replace were the fuel pump and coil packs.
