Hard to do? No. Ever going to happen? Not in a production marker. Liability concerns through the roof, and no legal dept would ever sign off on it.

Safety would be a concern. We would also have to put capacitive tips on all the pairs of gloves made so they could be registered as a touch. And you would have to be sure it was kept clean.

How are you at soldering. I've got the circuit. It is 2000 miles away right now but you can get/order it from Radio Shack. On line else where. Simple circuit using 555 or 556 chip. There is a LAG / time delay from touching it to activating it. Go play with the touch dimmers at Home Depot or LOWES. See how fast you can turn them off on. Doubt it would work for anything but sniping.
Downside: Safety, Getting any field to let you use it with their knowledge, Wouldn't be much faster or accurate that an electronic trigger. Sensitivity to dirt, sweat, paintball gooh.
Keep thinking of ways to help the Sport evolve.

I dont see why its that bad. Triggers now days pull easy as hell anyway. Where would the liabilty come into play?

Why even touch, just use a hall effect/proximity sensor as a trigger.
Though you will never be able to use that marker in a tournament/event.

Google..
Motion senor use different means of telling that something is there or not, though any sensor with the correct output's or wired to a PLC with logic can do just about anything.

Only do it for a full auto scenario face raping gun... completely uncapped.. maybe NXL for safety's sake.. so if you take a shot to the trigger it doesn't just go full auto rape fest
Enjoy it cuz you'll probably get kicked out when people catch wind.

You could also just use IR(or laser if you wised) breakbeam eye's wired up as a trigger. Again would be touchless but unuse able on the field.

Still a highly unwise thing for you to risk yourself or your friend/walk-ons with by putting yourself all in danger.

Post it up when you get done, it can't be any more dangerous than an electro that shoots when you bump it, and the touch area would be a flush surface so you would be less likely to snag it w/ your finger/gear accidentally or when passing it to somebody. And the safety (just like any electric) involves turning off the gun, and on top of that you could implement the 'rear' safety where your palm has to be in contact for the gun to shoot
They make gloves you can touchscreen text with for $5-10, so can't be that hard to adapt to overcome that issue, and oh what else
Why not make it so 1 finger shoots single shot, 2 fingers ramping?
And dangerous power had optical triggers also if I recall, and as stated they were finicky to light and dirt

The hall effect sensors detect the presence or absence of a magnetic field. BT uses them in their trigger boards. The trigger has a magnet on it. Pull it away from the board and it detects the absence of the magnetic field and triggers the firing program. You have to move it somehow. or put magnets on your fingers. Like in a glove.
Performance wise. What are you hoping it will do that is better than what already exists in paintball design. Or is it just because it is there and your like to tinker and make an idea work.
Sounds like a fine project but I would never take anything onto the field without the owners knowledge or permission. Especially if you are in a one paintball field town. Don't forget to put a safety on it. Power on off.
