I've never been either. muni is really the only way to get around the city, driving is a total lost cause. taxis here and there as money permits as well.

I was getting the hang of the muni by the end of our stay. We bought the citypass thing with the muni passport.

We did take one taxi from the airport. That was pretty nice. Got to the hotel in 15 min which would have been a 45 min ride on BART and a scary walk from powell/mason to the hotel at 1am.

muni and bart, as well as the city buses are great in the less busy times, but during the busy times are flat out hell. I prefer that hell to driving though. well the worst part of driving is parking really.

I noticed that. Parking in the hotel garage was 53 a night! Insane.

The only reason I can think of having a car in SF is to GTFO of the city.

I thought about renting a car to check out Muir woods. That'll have to be for the next time I visit.
