help finding a gun

so im getting into paintballing.(if that's what you call it)
im trying to decide what gun to get.
so im planning on upgrading to to be long range. (not actually calling it a sniper becuase i have seen people type all about "there is no sniping in paintball")
so i plan on getting a flatline or apex barrel so i can shoot further, il be putting a scope on maybe 1x-5x. probably a bipod.
so i have heard these are good
1.tippmann 98
2.tippmann a5

any others i should look into?
i would like them to have customability without having to do to much.

thanks for the help!

also, i would like to stay on the quiet-silent type and if that's not possible i want to go for the intimidation factor and have it sound like a beast.

please nothing over $400

Don't get a tippman. Do the research, you can get a decent electronic gun for the same price. Tippman makes great rental guns, but try looking at some other markers.

tippman makes great guns, I still have a 98 and an A5 from 10-11 years ago that work just fine (aside from needing a new o-ring in the A5 cyclone feed). I would definitely recommend them for someone starting out and looking into woodsball/scenario. As far as the newer tactical style markers go, I don't know much because I've been out of the game for quite some time. One thing I will say is that the A5 can be a gas hog due to the feed system. A 98 with a good barrel should do you fine. Like gamer565 said, check out the reviews and find what will fit you best

It sounds like you have a pretty good idea of what you want. My only advice would be to get the gun first and play with it a few times before you buy all the extra stuff to stick on it (like a site or a tripod). Decide what is really practical to your skillset and playstyle. You may find (like many do) that the extra stuff add more weight than practical utility.

Mask: Vforce Profiler or Grillz, or Sly Profit all come in camo colors, JT Proflex is great too
Tank: Carbon fiber 68/4500 (Ninja is best for buying new)
Loader/Hopper: Halo/Invert Too
Pod pack: Nxe
Pads: Youll want kneepads, Planet Eclipse are great for the price
Marker: Smart Parts SP-1 on ANSgear $130. Hands down the best tactical styled marker out there for the price. If you want one that would work for speedball too the Gog Extcy is good too.

Except for the mask and pads you could pick all of these up used and save a ton of cash.

Attachments like scopes, lights, and bipods dont do anything for paintball. The Apex does give you added range but you wont really have any paint breaking at that range. Its something that you should try out before buying.

the SP-1 is awesome and a seriously quiet gun, miles beyond a blowback tippmann, if you want to stick with a mech gun the new enemy is basically the same gun

A halo is overkill for it though

The only thing any force fed loader is overkill for is pumps.

No selling outside the BST, you might wanna edit that before the mods see it.

While I agree with SP-1 reference, for a new player, I recommend the GoG G-1M. It's styled just like the SP-1, but its a mechanical version. It hasn't been released yet, but I am willing to bet it will be next week or so. It's just like the GoG eNEMy but, styled like the SP-1/GoG G-1. It is easily upgraded to a G-1 with the change of a board when your ready to go electro. It operates off c02 or High Pressure Air, softer trigger pull then any Tippmann on the market (yes, even the Crossover has a stiff trigger out of the box) and is a lot more effiecent then any Tippmann on the market, meaning you'll spend less time at the air station and more time on the field.

Tippmanns are great beginner guns and I like the older M-98's vs the newer ones, they are lighter by far, and prefer the M-98 over the A-5 due to efficiency. The A-5 uses more air due to the cyclone feeder.

While Tippmanns are good starter guns, there are better choices out there.
