Seriously. In the past week, I've been involved in threads where people just come out of nowhere and throw down attitudes like we're in a high-school cheerleader's forum. What gives?
From a personal standpoint, I know that some of my posts are heavily opinionated and I expect some disagreement -- but what I've been noticing is that those disagreements are increasingly being made into personal attacks and just plain stupid, immature comments (these have not all been directed toward me by any means; I've noticed it across the board).
Maybe I've just moved on from the modern mode of conversation (I am
getting up there in years) -- insult people who try to help, talk **** to anybody who claims to have a background worth listening to, and more or less just be an asshat. When I grew up, I was taught to at least listen to people before launching into a tirade...
TL/DR: Can we not have gentleman's disagreements anymore? Can we not have civil discussions?
