G5 Thoughts

I would like to hear from those who have used the G5 already. Please tell me how many games you have played with G5, what kind of games you played (scenario v. speedball), which type of game is it best suited for in your opinion, and your overall evaluation of the marker?

Thank you

the whole woods vs soeedball gun agument is weak. the best tournement guns will be the best guns in the woods.

the G5 will hang with the best of them. its light, small, fast and not overly loud.

I don't understand why people don't bring speedball guns into the woods lmao like at my field everyone is in camo and crap and after like 3 games we need to go back for air and I'm on half a tank. On top of that they're shooting cannons and I'm over here with a quiet gun lol

The lighter the better.

Nothing to brag about lugging a 10lb mil sim gun around and wearing a 5lb chest rig.

Used my G5 in a tournament last weekend and it did pretty well. Kept up with all of the top of the line markers, had very minimal problems(Busted an o-ring in the asa and a small bolt stick) but both very easy to fix. For woodsball this gun is also very good. shoots a decent distance and very accurate. As previously stated, very light, quiet, and feel very good in the hands. Overall its one on my personal favorites

i usually wear my camo dye jersey but sometimes it gets too hot.

I used my SpecR and G3 the most in the woods, with plans to bring my OG fusion out for big games this summer

Well, I had the G5 for 3 weeks now and played every weekend. The only problem that I see is the led light on the back to turn on and off is very dim. Other then that, I had no problems with it. I use the lube that came with my AXE, so I don't know about the stock lube. I put about 5 cases of paint through it with no chops of any kind. I got the silver with black accents. I lube it after every case of paint and 4 drops of paintball oil down the asa before the first time playing of each day. The G5 is very light weight, which is a plus. Since it is light weight, the G5 will work for both speed ball or woods ball.

John.

you should explain why!! that way they learn better!

putting drops of oil down the asa may get oil where you don't want it. Certain parts are meant to be lubricated with grease only such as the solenoid, and certain o-rings in the regulator, and some meant to not to be lubed at all.

The liquid oil could loosen up the proper grease that lubricates those parts and the flowing air will take the grease out, thus increasing wear on those parts.

straight from the Alien manual

Quote:
The solenoid valve’s piston has grease on it from the factory. Some players oil their guns internals by putting oil in the bottle adaptor before airing up the gun. This internal oiling washes off the grease inside the solenoid. The oil used is lighter than the original grease and will need to be reapplied or the solenoid valve can fail prematurely. If a player chooses to oil the internals of the gun by putting oil inside the bottle adaptor use only synthetic oil, as petroleum base oils deteriorate the O-rings. Once you have started on this course you must add several drops of oil every time the marker is used. Again, your Independence should operate for hundreds of thousands of shots without any more than cleaning the bolt and changing the battery.
now the G5 is not an Alien marker but the idea is the same. Greasing the noid piston with a good grease once a season or longer is the best idea.

Putting oil in the ASA wont lube the bolt well enough to work, and oil on the bolt its self does not work very well. A good grease is what you should be using.

I thought that was only oil in the fill nipple. I feel that it's unlikely oil would get past the tank regulator since you got 4500psi trying to push the other way.

A tiny drop of oil on the tank orings should be okay. Although since you're greasing everything on the marker anyways, it's easy enough to just grease those orings too.

yeah a little bit of grease or rubbing oil onto the tank orings is fine.. dont dump it on, just smear it on the orings with your fingers.

Good to know, but I've always done this to all my markers. I have been playing paintball since 1992. I have never had any problems with leak or wear. Maybe the newer marker don't need it? I will find out for sure. I will only try it on the G5, to see if there will be an issue or not. The open bolt electros that I have done this too, has been only 2x. The G5, I have done it 3x. The G5, will be my test marker.

only the older angels and mechanical markers needed you to do that. the newer electros on the market work better when you use a dow 33 based grease and no oil.
