I keep my dp g4 around just incase my geo fails....only happened once, but man was I glad I had it. Sitting on the sidelines boils my blood.

I've played a game where I was just a mobile paint supplier and decoy for my other 4 teammates. If your team is going to be one gun short but still with all bodies that's definitely better than sitting on the sidelines. Hell, you could even run the flag in for a point if you can get there without a marker.

I once had the problem, that the soldering on my board from the battery contacts broke...Donīt know why this happened but it can happen and since you donīt have a soldering iron or stuff like that with you, a Backup Marker is a good choice. Fast replacement in between games or even Points.
At the moment I have 2 Cyborg RX and except for the colors they are the same so itīs easy to switch

Backup markers are key for any serious player....
My first love was my Mini, which has been Up'd to the max for the last 2 seasons. It got relagated to my backup this year, as I picked up an Etek4. Thought about selling it, but now having a backup reliable marker, I dont want to be without one.
The same goes for tanks, hoppers, even a backup mask is good to have. It boils me to see a good player down because his tank reg leaks, his gun leaks, or soemthing avoidable like that

I can't say I have a back up marker.
I have 2 markers yes.. But I use them both equally the same.. So technically I have to main markers and no back ups but I do use my Geo2.1 more than my Damage NT11

If you play for a team the team better have at least 2 back of guns of a high quality which means u dont necessarily need a back up gun thats your own.. maybe a couple of ur team mates do or maybe your team all pitched in to buy back up markers in case of emergencies
If you dont play for a team id recommend having one of yout own because u dont want ur day to go to waste due to ur gun going down

Not having a second replacement marker is ill-preparation in my mind. It keeps your down time at a minimum and you aren't forced to quit for an entire day and potentially be a man down in a tournament simply because you're having an unfortunate accident happen with your gun. My axe went down and I had two extra guns to use. Also, incase you have a teammate whose gun goes down and you don't completely hate them you can loan them a gun for the day so you can keep on going. "It's better to have it and not need it rather than need it and not have it."

Not having a back-up is setting yourself up for failure. Everyone should have a back-up, even for rec ball, practice, drills, etc.

Not having a backup is messing up off the bat...because you shouldn't have to resort to asking around the field to borrow gear. You'll be THAT guy and in most cases you're SOL because they don't have what you need. Every smart and logical player should have a backup gun.
