Ok, so a recent project has landed a cobra 45 frame in my hands. The frame was dremeled to fit a DM board and buttons. I plan on tig welding the button holes that wont be used, then re-anno.

My question is does anyone know exactly what grade aluminum the frame is made from? I appreciate your help.

I'm fairly certain that every newer paintball gun and its parts are made from 6061 grade aluminum, also called "aircraft grade". I'm guessing your frame is too unless it is really old and the makers just used whatever they had available to them at the time.

Not sure if you're a Welder or not, but from what I've been told, you won't be using 6061 fill.

Even if you fill filled spots with the same grade you will have a difference how the ano layer is taken, which will effect the color.

lol was just saying what it looked like. The snatch grip looks like it has chipping on it, that's all.

But yea, black would probably be your best bet for re-anno.

I've got a marker body that I've milled and welded on a couple times (my attempt at halfblocking - PS don't let me near a gun with a mill...) and it's come out fine so far.

I think the color should stay pretty consistent. I've seen pictures of some cockers with rewelded eye holes and after the body was reannodized you couldn't tell it was welded.
