Is the Apex2 really that good?!
Hey, I am looking at getting an Apex2 for my 98C and I was wondering if it was worth my pretty pennies. I play pretty much all woods ball. I was also wondering if it would work well with Valken Graffiti paint.
Thank you for your time

I tried it and didnt like it at all. Who has the time to adjust their shots and keep adjusting when you can't get it right. For me just know your range, angles, and have fun playing.

Mixed opinions on it. I have two friends who use it in the woods at big games and the balls reaches farther then if you used a normal barrel because of the spin, wich can be very good if you learn to use it right. But i wouldnt use anything other then hard shelled paint like Rec/Training paint, otherwise it will break the paint inside the barrel.
You might get lucky and get a perfect batch of some medium range paint that wont break in the barrel, but i wouldnt count on it.
If you first get a barrel break, the balls will go everywhere.

To me they are more of a novelty item. They do extend shots out a bit farther, but paint breaking out at the added distance is very hit or miss. Additionally as another user posted you cannot use as brittle of paint as with a traditional barrel. It would be something fun to purchase but only after investing in some other items first like a good loader, compressed air tank, etc. I am not sure what you run on your 98c currently but it wouldn't be at the top of my list purchase wise for the gun.

Well I have everything I can get for t pretty much I even bought a new hopper because I wanted to give my brother my dads ancient view loader. The only other thing I want to but is a nicer air tank. I am trying to get my special lady to order me this as a V-day present...

the apex barrels are **** hoestly. your shots are very inconsistent. if your going to invest your money, honestly i would say go and get you a gog g1 and install a black heart board. you wont need another gun for woodsball and you have alot of options for upgrades.
the apex barrel is nothing but a tube with a rubber flap on the tip. like what was said you haft to buy more expensive paint just to keep them from breaking in the barrel. if you just want a barrel for your tippmann that gives your more reach and is more consistant go with the flatline barrel

Are you running compressed air? That will do wonders for your shot consistency over Co2. If you have a good loader and a good tank and want one I would say why not. I don't personally care much for them. But they do increase the distance of the ball some and the right and left hook shots are fun for some.

I had mine for over six months and gave it time to get use to it but I never really liked it. The shots do reach farther but all over the place.
I get my kills in woodsball by shooting multiple shots, and one will hit the target because it does reach much farther than a normal barrel.
Just got rid of it because I was wasting too much time trying to make my shots hit the target at long distances. It is also very , very loud.

Thanks I guess I won't get it or I will only use it every now and then. I did look at the Gog g1 though and it looks awesome but to saved money I think I am going to put in a virtue board. Any thoughts on that?!

The only upgrades I would spend money on are things that could be used on your next marker.

I used an Apex on my older Ion as well as a Tippmann Crossover without any issues with Valken Redemption pro and GI 4 star as well as RPS Premium. It takes some getting used to and is definitely not just set and forget, but it can be a powerful tool if you use it correctly.

i have friends that swear by them.
they love the apex systems.
i personally have taken all of 20 shots through an apex barrel, in my backyard, testing a tipx build i made for a customer
the Apex2 is MUCH better/easier to take apart/clean than the Apex1
if i were to get one, it would be Apex2
the 20 shots i took with it, yes the balls curved, it was cool, but i didnt get to shoot at anybody or do any long shots..... they broke on a tree 30feet away, when i wasnt pointing at it

I like my Apex (I've got an Apex 1), but it's not for all situations. It's great for big games, scenarios, and those oddball times when you have to shoot someone around whatever cover they're behind. Yes, it's possible, but not consistently repeatable. The added range is awesome for those scenario game longball situations, but you do lose a good amount of accuracy. Plus, at those longer ranges, you have to remember the ball is moving that much slower, so hitting someone's gun or goggles are pretty much a must. It's nothing I'd run on a pump, but it's pretty functional on my Darq. I did just pick up a Freak/Apex tip, because there really are times when you won't need or want that extra range and the ballistic path the Apex puts the ball on.

Your shots do reach out further but after 150ft , they wander and go where they want. There are videos posted show a sniper get one shot one kills on people two hundred feet away. Those are the good shots they post.
Every time I go out to a big field game, I bought the Apex along to test out, but after a game or two, I switched back to may trusty DW with freak inserts.
I have since stop bringing the apex out completely.
