Josh,
What about the $300 per event extra if you want a prize for winning the event?
That makes NEXL more like $1,000 franchise.
$300 for 10 IDs=$1,300
$300x5 to win money back= $2,800.
Jerseys. Not that important but if you do choose to add them thats $600= $3,400 total before paint.
For 2 lines that's $340 per person. For foxball it's $175, $200, or $250 per person for 2 lines before paint. That's cheaper in either division....
Granted you don't win money per event in foxball either I know.
As the guy above me said though, I definitely applaud the NEXL for the changes this year though. I like them a lot.

technically you don't win money in the sense that it's going to be spent at PE only. the counter to my argument is that you're probably not making enough of a profit from NEXL money made at events to spent it on anything other than the NEXL.

The chance to win money at the each event is a big plus, a potential of winning a couple thousand every time. I left that out of my first post though due to the fact that thats not a garuntee, prizes had 0 to do with out decision.

I definitely wasn't saying 1300 was equal to 2500. I couldn't remember the specifics about the 300 gamble at every event so I erased that from my post, I was being lazy. I def wish you guys the best of luck, I just don't see it the same way. We had been an NEXL team for 2010 and 2011 and made the switch to foXball last year, and it was a great decision.
As far as the PE money goes its pretty easy to turn that into money. The thing that's not easy is waiting until October 6th to find out if you need to get rooms, cars, entrance, paint sponsor all set up to go to cup. Even if you are going no matter what you've missed all the deadlines to save money on entrance, if you don't happen to win. I don't know if any team has actually used the end of season prize to go to cup and in years past it was non-transferable.

Some deciding factors which prompted Ballin Crew to make the jump to Foxball were as follows:
1. An established, long running event series.
2. Excellent reffing!! We have been on the wrong end of some not so good reffing in other leagues. This sport (hobbie for the majority of us) is to expensive for the days success to be decided by someone that really doesn't want be there.
3. As stated in my last sentence, expense. I'm almost 40 years with all the bills to follow. With every cent I spend on paintball, it's one less cent I spend on my family. How I justify this is, involve my family. They are the pits, they are the scouts and so on. It has an unbelievable impact on teams and families when the owner of the field walks through the pits and welcomes them.
These are just a few reasons.
Remember," Cheap tattoos aren't good and good tattoos aren't cheap "
You can replace the word " tattoo " with leagues

We (187) had no seed points going into Chicago when we played D2 and managed to do ok.

I agree with the idea you need to play the best, for us we had the finances lined up to play majors, its more the lack of talent (and roster turnover) to be truly competitive at that level. No sense in spending a bunch of money to get beat most of the time. I'd rather play at a level that gives me a fair shot at winning. PSP points did not factor into our decision.

some minor updates...
1 - United has elected to put only one team in the league- the opening post is up to date with the team list
2 - working on schedules this weekend - look for something early next week - any special requests - please submit them to dave@fox4paintball.com
3 - Jerseys - let's just hope we get them in time. It's a complex process to do semi-custom jerseys for 20 teams.

and you get this great selection of food at other paintball facilities you frequent?
Good things have a price - in this case the yummy goodness of the steak and cheese requires you to burn a few calories in the process of getting it.

With five teams in majors, we'll be playing each team twice this season, right?
