Thank you for all the helpful info. Just got an sp8 after having mechs for the past 6 years. Had a shocker turbo back when they first came out, so it's been awhile. Tons of helpful info, you guys rock!

There is no "best dwell ever" but each Ion will have it's own personal best dwell depending on its machining tolerances & upgrades installed.
I've actually got a dwell question, for my cousin's Ion. Can anyone recommend a dwell when using an Orange Nano bolt + the Nano upgrade? That's the only internal upgrade he's got.

Thanks
This thread helped me significantly ramp up my Ion with the stock board. Nothing amazing but much better than it was. Thanks.

I'm about to enter a tournament with a 12 bps capped semi. if i change my dwell does that only affect ramping or is it affect semi as well? and what would be a good setting to cap it at 12 bps

The trigger doesn't affect the dwell at all, but since the L7 is much lighter than other bolts, you should be able to drop the dwell a fair amount. to around 20-30 most likely. You can keep dropping it until it doesn't fully cycle anymore and then up it about 3-5 clicks.

Hey Kolder,
Hey i have a project ion that im wrapping up and its proformance is pretty crappy right now, i think i might hava dwell issue. I've got an original ion with a techt sleeper body, L7 bolt, clippard QEV and 1st gen virtue board. Any idea where my dwell should be?

Based on your bolt and QEV, you should be pretty good sitting around 15-25 ms.

So I have an ion I am working on for a friend. It keeps half cycling. The psi is between 160 and 180 like the manual said. But it keeps half cycling. I saw in your post that you raise the dwell.
So is it every time I push the button and then pull the trigger it raises it or do I need to do something different? If you could PM me that would be awesome. Thanks.
- Thanks, Cobra

my ion has every possible upgrade (virtue board, lucky bolt, lucky firing can, lucky rear donut, sp qev), anyone have an approximation what the optimal dwell will be around? just as idea, i understand every gun is different
