Snake play injury

I'm fairly new to playing snake and I was picked up by a team to play it. We just had a practice yesterday and during the practice I was not hurting or aching, but in school it hurts to hunch over (like my bottom two ribs) and having random bruises on my hands/ knees. Could this be due to faulty snake dives? Or will I just start to get used to it

Knee and elbow pads are really helpful for playing snake, definitely saved me from some injuries over the years.

If it's just general soreness in the legs/body, that kinda comes up after playing anytime in general, since the body positions you'll be in by playing are probably stressing your body in ways that you aren't usually moving and lead to being sore.

I have elbow pads and its not really soreness I'm feeling, and I'm pretty used to contorting my body around (state qualified wrestler). It's just this pain in my lower 2 ribs that I feel like are bruised

probably landed wrong and bruised something. it happens. I have a broken right knee cap from diving and I've always wore pads.

try using a chest protector, they help quite a bit with diving superman style. Also, be aware of your elbows, I have many snake player friends that have dislocated their shoulders from bad dives.

No need to buy padding. Buy more cheeseburgers.

You just bruised some muscle. Don't worry if you piss blood for the next few days either. It's gonna happen when you slide a bunch. Start to worry if...

It hurts when you pee
blood in pee doesn't stop
your lungs rattle when you breathe
it hurts when you breathe and doesn't get better in 3 days
bruises get bigger instead of fading
neck stiffens and doesn't get better

How many times did you dive?
What lands on the ground first?
Are you jumping up in the air and landing on your belly with a big belly flop?

The reason I ask this, is because I've seen this in highly viewed videos on youtube. Supposedly these guys were legit players but I don't think they played more than 6 months the way they were diving. When I watch televised tournaments, I laugh every time I see someone dive by jumping really high in the air and splatting on the ground. Sometimes I see idiots faceplant. It's impossible to faceplant if you dive right.

The worst things that happen to me is the skin peels off and I bleed everywhere. That is just because I don't have gloves. The place I ordered from that would give me a discount, has the gloves back ordered and has taken 6 months. My old gloves are torn to shreds. I don't feel any aches and pains that are like broken bones. I do get sore though and I think that is natural.

I dove about 30 times
I try to slide on my forearms, but now that you point it out I think I do just bellyflop
