UL or Shaft 4
Bought an EGO 11 from a friend, he didnt have a barrel for it. So I'm looking to buy one, and am torn between two. The Dye UL, or the Shaft 4? I understand that the paint makes a difference in how the barrel will preform though. Also why do I see so many UL's with guns and not the stock ones (Shaft 4, Empire)? Just curious!
Thanks!

I have yet to see the awesomeness from the UL. Shoots as good as the stock barrel IMO. I'd have to say sha 4 to keep it The same as the gun.

I believe Shaft has longer control bore if that helps.

A longer control bore doesn't do anything when you're overboring lol.
Honestly, if you're looking to get one barrel get a smaller UL, but if you're looking to get a kit either buy the Shaft 4 kit (Lapco also makes a counterpart for it which adds more bore sizes) or buy a Shaft 4 and PM nerve2030 about getting it freak bored.

I'd get a pair of Eigenbarrels (684 and 678). Tested and proven to be the most efficient barrel made, which means lower HPR pressure, which means quieter and smoother shot.

Lol, just read into over boring/under boring argument. Honestly, I think I've had better accuracy over boring. That said, the paint I use usually varies +- .005" that's .010" variance

I say shaft just because you're using it on an ego. I dont really care for how UL's look on Egos. Both barrels are going to perform similarly.

The Shaft 4 has a longer control bore and will thus yield the better efficiency numbers. Aside from that it would be a preference thing. I have always liked the look and classic porting design of Dye barrels, but it wouldn't be worth it to me to replace an already great barrel on an Ego 11.

ONLY if you're underboring... Just having a longer control bore doesn't yield better efficiency, having a control bore that's underbored is crucial to changing the efficiency numbers.

Longer control bore helps in any case. It would be especially beneficial when underboring but the paintball still benefits from having the smaller bore for more length. It is like the difference between using a drastic overbore vs a slight overbore. In truth, the best way to go for overbore is usually 1 piece straight bore for efficiency. Sorry if there is any confusion.

Get the Lapco Fuse. It's interchangeable with the Shaft 4 (Same threads) The milling and honing is great too! I had doubts at first since when I hear lapco I think milsim but I'm glad I went with it

Lapco used to hold a very large tournament presence in the past however, as of recent they have sort have become more associated with scenario type paintball. Their honing process is renowned and there is never a reason to doubt the quality of one of their products. I was glad to see them coming out with some more modern designs that included more porting.
