Possibly but I don't think it will be as noticeable. It will probably still be see through for whatever color you chose.

As for the color I would assume that if you used a red it would give you purple because the base color is purple. Not too sure on that because this was the first time I have used rit dye.

Thanks for the info man, I'll try red dye on an inconspicuous area first to see if it actually turns purple.

Not sure about dying it but you could find some of that spray paint for plastics and use that. Not too sure how durable that will be though.
