There are soo many thing retarded about this post, I can't even begin to point them out.
EDIT: instead of double posting: Valentines ideas...aaaannndd go.
G/f and I have been together for 6 years so all we do is I cook her a nice dinner at home, get some flowers and exchange cards. At this point we just want to save our cash for future things.

Hardest 40 minutes of my life this morning. Interview consisted of brain teasers and specific market knowledge. Interviewer told me I'll get a video chat with the head of the office. Should have the job.

good job jew man.
on a related front, friend of mine is the director of the NYC rescue mission, and he's talked to me recently about coming on board as the director of their learning center. He took over a little less than a year ago, and he's starting to make some changes and he doesn't think the current person is gonna survive/be able to change to a more "modern" approach.
Not exactly what I planned for my future, but would be an awesome job. I'd be in charge of developing and implementing a comprehensive program to teach life/job skills to the guys in their rehab program. Help them to learn english/improve their writing, word processing, and how to search for jobs online. Make powerpoint presentations, stuff like that.
Hard to imagine a more fulfilling job.

Yeah. Most Wall Street entry level interviews consist of brain teasers and riddles to see how you think under pressure.

They used to be pretty common in tech interviews, but most places have gotten rid of them because they found they don't relate way to how well you can code.
Most places that use them don't want a right answer (or that's not the primary goal), they want to see how you approach a problem.

My friend who stayed with the wife and me this weekend used to be the director of the young engineers program at Comcast. He said his "make or break" question in interviews was (paraphrasing) to basically tell the candidate "this last question will determine if you get hired or not, so make sure you're ready" to basically make them nervous/anxious, and then to ask the potential hire to say, in one word, what makes a company succeed.
He said the answer didn't much matter(though he might ask for an explanation if it was interesting), but what mattered is that they promptly gave him the answer in a single word. He was surprised at the number of people who would try to say "this thing, but here's an explaantion" or "I can't sum it up in a word." Basically, he just wanted them to be able to follow directions and do things the way he asked them to, the first time. He found over the years, that this question said a lot about the person's ability to do that, which indicated their potential to excel at the job over the long haul.
He had a lot of interesting industry stories over the years(he's almost 60 now and a VP-level guy at motorola).
