Mac Noid

I know this has probably been posted before. Nothing in the stickies...either that or I'm going to get a lot of irritated responses and some smart *** answers..but here goes:
What is the point of installing a Mac Noid in an Ion? Does it increase your rate of fire? Is it a more effecient solenoid? Just curious. I've been trying to find out for a few days now with a lot of pointless search results.
Thanks for whatever information you can provide and I appologize for another one of these threads.

This is a theory, and I will probably get hosed, and flamed
myself, but......(sigh)

The best answer I can give you as for why people are using a MAC as an alternative would be that the options available now for solenoids are probably more limited.

As far as I know, only Virtue and Seventh element are making the more conventional solenoid/board set-up. There may be others, but I have not seen them.

From a pricing standpoint I can tell you the alternative is very good as well.
Damon over at scenario dreams sells MAC 33 and his universal T-board for a very reasonable price.
I have pondered running this set-up for awhile now.

Let the flaming begin !!!!!

Makes sense since SP is out of business, but I'm sure stock solenoid replacements are not completely gone yet from most sites.
Thanks for some clarity, I'm interested to hear what others have to say on the subject (still searching for some info myself).
Thanks again.

Seeing as I bought out the last of the solenoids from Aaron (Lucky USA), I think I know a bit :p

I do not know the EXACT specs and such, but the basics are:

They cycle faster.
Less air is needed to cycle.
Can be used with most aftermarket boards, including OLED, etc.
*Works with SOME stock boards.
Can be modded for lower profile/faster cycling/etc.

*ProTip
Mac solenoid w/ capped board = no increase in ROF.
Board with broken solenoid/missing parts = good reason to buy the Mac as stock solenoid prices are outrageous.

the MAC solenoid is head and shoulders over the stock ion solenoid, with the one trade-off being that it's profile is not 100% ideal for an ion grip frame like the stock noid is.

the MAC noid takes less power to run. It vents air faster which allows the marker to cycle faster. And it is less "exposed" than the stock noid, which could lead to better durability.

1 click on lucky board with mac noid = my marker cycles fully

5 ms on virtue board with stock noid = my marker almost cycles fully

Can somebody post the steps to installing the Mac noid to the stock ion board. Need to understand how to do it so I can try it out for myself. Thanks!

it's not simple. If you arent skilled at soldering and desoldering don't bother.

damon @ scenario dreams MAY do it for a fee.

this is from lucky boards, but from their site they say using it in combination with the spitfire board it makes it the fastest cycling gun on the market. i wouldnt know because i use a ego 8 and an 11. the 11 has the noid and it lets me adjust the cycle speed of both the forward and reverse actions of my hammer, hope this helps.

If you are not a certified tech or experienced enough I suggest you to bring it in to a local pro-shop and let the tech's do the work.
