Do I need the Redline Grip

I've proudly joined the Axe family this week!

I was wondering if the RL Grip does anything more than just increasing the usability with the OLED, joystick and firing mode options, or does the board actually improve the performance?

By improve performance I mean:
  • Shots per second
  • Efficiancy
  • Smoothness of the action
  • Etc etc

Nope. You don't need the redline board, it just makes it easier to change settings.

Next question:

Is there a generally accepted board upgrade that indeed increase SPS, efficiency etc?

If you are looking for an upgrade to increase efficiency, try looking into boss bolt or lurker bolt. A board will not help you increase efficiency. It can however make it easier for you to fine tune your axe.

Boards do nothing for performance. Near all stock boards now come with the settings people used to go after market to get. The only purpose now is ease of use. Only thing I'd recommend getting is bolt. You can upgrade the feedneck if you want. They can break on bad dives but you don't need one.

I really appreciate the information. I use blog based interaction in the 15 other hobby / sports I participate in. It becomes universally clear when you're speaking to folks that know what they're talking about!! Thanks guys!

Sure it does, how else are you going to adjust your dwell down to utilize the new bolt ?

The stock board will allow you to adjust dwell down to .25ms so aftermarket does not improve this.

Yeah, but hes talking about getting a new board. I guess I should have said by getting a different board it will not improve efficiency it will make it easier to tune it.

With stock board you can already adjust dwell.

For this reason's stated in your original post, a redline would not improve your performance.

This is not totally correct. The Redline board does allow you to adjust dwell in increments of .1ms which allows for more fine tuning of the marker. Also the Redline allows for unlimited semi and ramping where the Shockwave is limited to 20 in semi and 15 in ramping.

The Redline board also allows more control over de-bounce settings allowing you to set you trigger to be more sensitive while still being legal. There is also an Anti Bolt stick setting to eliminate bolt and solenoid stick.

You also get a game timer and alarm, shot counter, Peak and Average ROF achieved. There are a lot of features which you can use to improve the markers performance and your performance on the field
