Question marq on the way, what do i need to know

i can plow through the stickies and manuals all day which i plan on doing but what are some tricks? ive got a marq7 with stock everything i think on its way to me this week.
do i NEED a tester or is it just "good" to have? tuning tricks i imagine i can find anywhere i need to but are there any little tricks to em?
55 and triflow or just 55 and leave it alone?
how often should i re lube? (i live in the desert, shoot about a case a week)
is the SC engine REALLY worth the 150?
anyone make wrap around grips for it
and (oh this would be great) im trying to find the exact thickness of metal for the whole body, IE i want to get it milled but i dont know how deep i can cut in places. would bob have that available or do any of you know were to get that information?

thanks for all the help im sure ill be on this forum a bunch

You NEED a pressure tester.

Stock engine is smoother so if you're ok with the efficiency then just stick with it. Virtue makes wrap around grips but you can also drill and tap the frame for G6R grips.

PM tim2thousand4 for a pressure tester (or you can get them from BLAST). I would suggest putting some ashcroft gauges in it for more accurate readings. For me, the closer (which I have an SC engine in) and my marq7 (stock engine) have both been set and forget so far.

i havent needed a pressure tester since i got my rapper in 09...necessary, no. but i wouldnt mind having one around just in case.

nor have i felt the need to get the SC kit either, unless you just really want the extra effeciency.

i definately want to pick up a pair of wrap around g6r grips though. the stock grips are rather rough on the hands.

marqs are pretty low on maintenance, dow55 stays in place for a pretty good while. every 5 cases or so is fine. can go longer but being in a desert id always try to keep as much sand out as possible.

How do you guys set your LPR after rebuilding them? I am a believer in setting it and leaving it alone.

Depends on what was actually changed with the spool. It might(and this is purely guessing). It might be possible to put it in a Gen1 PE/SC engine.

Again, pure guess. Nothing to back this up but wiseful thinking and bob looking out for us that still use "older" marker's

As soft as the regular engine (and SC) shoots, I think most people will end up running the normal engine. It's conjecture, but I'm hoping this boosts perception about the marq line in general.

It will only work for the Victory platform. The engines are similar but different enough that they don't crossover.

i just make note of a little blemish/nicked part of the lpr screw and put it back to wherever it lined up at.

Make sure you have your dwell at factory settings, and sweetspot your regs..
