If it isn't Seachem Prime, or Seachem SAFE, you're wrong.

It's API tap water conditioner I assume it will still work, it's what the LFS uses and their fish are in great health.

That will work for now. Personally, I found that most water conditioners cost quite a bit per gallon they treat because they use a lot of additives. Prime/Safe (Safe is he powder form of prime) 1 500ml bottle that I bought will last me years. Treats like 5000 gallons and was 10 or 11 bucks on Amazon.

They gave me this stuff free when I bought my first fish from them, so I use it. I'll order some of that stuff to condition my standby water (for change outs) along with a better vacuum and a test kit. Any preference on vacuums for 55g+ tanks?

I was stoked, this tank came with 2 filters intended for 75 gallon tanks. I've got some damn good flow going

I use the aqueon water changers http://www.amazon.com/Aqueon-Aquariu...+water+changer

Works great and makes things a lot easier, no more buckets.

What kinda filters?

Two Emperor 400s. It says up to 90g, but I've seen people saying they are maxed at 75g.

http://www.marineland.com/Products/a...er-filter.aspx

That's perfect, I'll get one of those!

Yeah, I wouldn't run a 55 with only one of those.

I run a penguin 350 on my 30 gallon and its about right for that. Its rated for like 50+ gallons.

I like my water to turn over no less than 6x/hour.

I think I'm around 5x with both of these. Should be sufficient. Honestly, I don't know what's going in this tank when I get the other two next week.

All of my current bigger fish will go in my 180, I guess I can keep the little guys in this one.

eh as far as aggression goes they are not really bad until they get big and they still tend to be aggressive toward their own species. the bigger issue is their growth rate. they grow incredibly slow and if you want to buy a large one you need to pay quite a bit, even for regular indo's.

I'd love a few 8" fish cruising around my tank if they wouldn't eat other little guys.

My guys won't get big for a LONG *** time sadly

Oh datnoids get a whole lot bigger than 8 inches. You could get prochilodus, they get about a foot long and wont touch your fish

I know they get bigger, I'm just saying I wish I had some 8" fish right now. My current fish wont get there for, at least, another 2 years.

I like those, but their max temp is 77. Most of my fish prefer it a bit warmer so that narrows my temperature range WAY down. Right now I am at 77 - 78.1 I think.

Edit: I need to stop taking info from liveaquaria. Other places say it will tolerate up to 84 degrees. That is definitely a good option. Thanks for the suggestion!

Yea its from the amazon river basin and iirc it is pretty wide spread, it can definitely do over 77. The flag tail can larger than 12inches too but I think their growth slows down quite a bit once the get larger.

That's perfect. I'll add them to the list. Hopefully my LFS can get them all! I'm also hoping the banded leporinus and this guy don't bicker.

1 species biotope's rule.

i donno what you would want for a 75gal though, you can get a fahaka puffer in there and he will be happy as a clam (well, no clam is happy if a fahaka is around).

om nom nom (1:20 for when the action starts)

fyi, that is a Mbu puffer in the vid, not a fahaka/nile. fahaka will also maim a cockle, i just liked this video because it demonstrates how powerful their beaks are. Mbu gets about 3x as big as a fahaka and is much more docile.

A fahaka will not do well in a 75. Generally, if someone is looking to keep a fahaka, it'll do best in a 125-180 gallon tank.

It's cool until someone asks, "what else?" lol

Guess what this fish store gave me for free after I ordered my oddballs (don't pay for them until they get here)? Hint, he was on that list I posted earlier.
