depends.. We try to keep their snake player out of the snake while i slip into the snake and do work. works out well
One thing to think about that not everybody recognizes in the game is this - If you drop a corner player, watch for their center player to make the fill out. I dont to do this often enough.. ill shoot out their back left or right and ill switch sides to do work on the other corner and before you know it their center player fills out and now we cant capitalize. Shoot a corner out and press that side or wrap a little further and get a shot on their center player. keep him tucked in and move down field. Dont let that center player fill out.
GET OUT ALIVE. Its not worth the risk to do a big breakout, get to a bunker you know you can get too, put the opposing players in and then make your bump to the bunker that you want.

Fill out as soon as you see the guy walk off. With your whole team alive, if you kill the snake corner, go snake side. If you kill the dorito corner, go dorito side. Once you're there, wrap around the outside of your bunker and trap their players in the middle while your front player moves up and pinches them out. The core concept of tournament paintball is to get wide and take up as much ground as you can.

I agree with having 3 guns up off the break, if you all empty your loader and don't hit anyone that's fine, just make sure you keep the other team contained. 3 man seriously comes down to who has the more aggressive strategy, trying to play "defense" is almost useless. Also, if someone get's out and the opponents cannot takeout someone on your team within about 15 seconds then you should almost certainly win. If you are shooting at someone and you get them out MOVE!

3 guns up off the break, and try to pick on one player. Also don't forget about "edging" if the other team only shoots wide, stick a gun up the center at them, you could get a free kill from back center.

Something I wanted to add (just remembered) if you get to around the 60 on either wire most teams will accidentally have their whole team shooting at you. It's cool to just hunker down and let your mates mop things up.

Basically what everyone has said already. You need to play fast and furious. you get somebody out? capitalize on that and MOVE! If you can swing around and gate /trap them like a heard of cows its game over. Just mean mug the other team basically, gotta be aggressive.

center fifty is always my favorite to hit off break becuz no one expects it and u will shoot out a corner once u get there then wrap and slowly take over. easy. jus shoot someone off break.

I know you already played the tourney, but anyone looking @ this thread, your best bet is 2 things.
Communication
Crossing up
Don't worry so much about your tape as you should the opposite side players. Crossing up is the best thing to do, and communication wins 3 man tourneys. I've played lot's of 3v3 tourneys and I can tell you, when someone is shooting you, tell your players that he is on you and they need to bump up. Then they turn to your teammates, and you can bump up. Don't hesitate to bump, and have your teammates lay down cover fire if you're ready to make a move.

My first 3 man 10+ years ago. All guns up off break, one take snake off break. 5 out of 6 games we played, no one went snake with me and it was actually quite sad how easy we won. Just watch a few games before your field time and see what the other teams are doing and adjust from there.
The more paint you guys have in the air at the start, the less chance they will have to spread out. Less field vision they will have, etc.

Have your D-Side player be your best gun fighter/smartest player that can stay alive.
We would always make sure all our moves were smart and efficient; try not to get picked off when bumping... To prepare I would do TONS of 2 on 1 / 1 on 1 drills to prepare for what is almost inevitable. Also practice finishing the game, when you go up one body you should be able to finish the game within 30 seconds..... Set a 30-45 second timer and setup a 2 on 3 situation.... the side with 3 players should aim to win the point by the end of the time. You can change up where the bodies are to simulate different things.
Just my .02 so don't take it as professional advice or anything lol. Good luck!

Spread the field, get a kill, box them in.
Get a 2v3 situation and use the outside hold them back, the center guy needs to make a play.
I haven't played a 3 man even in decades but practice with 3v3 and 3v2 drills. If you find yourself on the 2v3 end of things stay alive, cross it up, and if possible spread the field. It is helpful having a code such as "Magic" meaning you need your teammate to break the cross and look down the wire.

Lots of good advice in here. But one thing seems to be missing. Make sure that you're still having FUN while doing it.
Once you stop having fun you won't play to the level you know you can.
