You guys aren't very good at conspiracy theories... obviously they're going to release a G5 Spec-T (or some name along those lines) and charge $400. It'll come stock with a jointly-developed or licensed techT compatible engine. And now I need another layer for my tinfoil hat...

I always figured the more aftermarket products, the better. Because I know several people who would have just skipped getting their G3s or G4s if there was no L7 engine available. I mean, sure, there's a sentiment that the stock engine isn't the greatest, but at least they still bought the gun over something else.

All DP have to do is to sell the G5 with a better bolt.
I will be watching this thread. If you have to buy a TechT to fix the G5, then I will pass on getting the G5. I just wish DP would learn from their mistakes on the older G3, G4 that TechT is kicking them in the face.
Upgrades is one thing, but TechT continue to fix DP's issue. The bolt is the heart of the G3,G4 and G5 and DP can't get it right.......

You don't have to have a TechT bolt to fix any of DPs markers. It's just a huge benefit to have that upgrade.
They all shoot paint stock or with TechT.

I agree with Marcus. There is nothing wrong with the G series markers from DP. They function as they are designed to. You are correct, silentballer, in that the bolt is the heart of the marker - but that can be said for EVERY marker. Since TechT makes a hush bolt for the Ego line or an L7 bolt engine for the Dye line, does that mean that there is something wrong with PE and Dye markers?.......Nope. Not at all.
The dump valve design of the G series is designed to be simple in function AND for the user to service. I don't know about you but I'd much rather prefer having to deal with the 3 o-rings (2 on the bolt and 1 on the backcap stem) and 2 bumbers (one on the bolt and one in the backcap) of the DP stock drivetrain then the whopping 15 o-rings that can be found on a Proto marker's stock bolt/drivetrain.

one big reason to buy a G series gun with a techt bolt is that you can do it on the cheep and still have a nice shooting gun.
Noone wants to buy a luxe, Clone, DM, and have to get a new bolt just for it to shoot nice. DP guns are different because you only spend $300 on the gun vs. $1200-1600. Expectations are different. I for one wont be getting a G5 for the same reason, i dont care for how they shoot compared to my Techt G3 that I already have.
for some people its more worth it to buy a cheep gun and upgrade it. The performance gap between the g3/4 and the high end guns gets much smaller when you put an ape board and techt bolt into them. Im not saying it makes them just as good but it starts to make you wonder if the extra $800 you could have spent on the high end gun would have been worth it FOR YOU (not everyone has the same requirements/ expectations in their gun)
That being said, the G5 is worth every penny and does not NEEED upgrades but dont come crying when it does not shoot as smooth and efficient as the Clone that some guy at the field had. Remember, he spent 4-5 times more money than you did.

To be honest, i love the stock bolt in the G5. No bolt stick issues at all and it is very light-weight. It seems to me DP fixed any issues they had and made an excellent marker right out of the gate. The only thing i have changed on it is the stock barrel to my Deadlywinds.
