"Pyramid" reps

Well I've been aware of them, the whole 10 reps 8 reps 6 reps 4 reps whatever but today I was told you do 10 reps of a weight then increase the weight and do 8 reps of it then increase the weight and do 6 reps and so on. Is this really how you do it? I kept the same weight on the whole time.

I increase the weight as the reps go down.

Like 75sx12, 85sx10, then 100sx4

I would say that if you are at the level where you are asking this sort if question, you will probably be better of finding a reputable program that you like and following it.

I have a program for wrestling that involves it. I figured if I barely got 10 how would I do 8 of a heavier set

Shouldn't your wrestling coach be giving you these kind of details? Seems rather important...

He did just this year though. The past two years he just gave us a paper of exercises reps and sets. But I always thought it was same weight.

Use a lighter weight when doing the 10 rep set...

I do the prescribed reps for the beginning sets (12, 10), and then go to failure only on the last one, hopefully getting between 4-6 reps.

This is a better idea lmao but he said we shouldn't be blasting out the ten like we should be able to get it but it shouldn't be easy.

Edit...what is the proper way to actually do this? Is it supposed to be hard to get the 10 or what?

What I used to do was start light and then go heavier with each set and do three sets of ten. I still do it when I can but I'm currently restricted in what I can lift due to a concussion.
