I think the Germans have performed phenomenally when you look at the opposition they faced. I personally can only speak for the 914th in the valley, our group of sixty held out against hundreds until we finally where forced out. Once we regrouped and where preparing to attack the valley and retake it we found out from some refs the game was being called while others told us to play on.

Long story short, we remained on the field for most of the day, cleaning up the allies that remained on the field willing to give us a good fight. It's sad that the game was called early due to the allied players "victory", why couldn't we have more chances to score points with all the allied players on the field? I wish I knew.

D-Day was the event that got me involved in paintball, but now that I've attended many other games, I don't know how many times I will return unless the game changes to a smoother flow with less "shady" things happening across the field.

Also, get some real refs, not these refs that are supposed to protect the player and not make calls. I can take care of myself, I don't need some local kid who has never played paintball before telling me he is afraid to perform paint checks instead watching to make sure I don't pass out or whatever his job is. This event draws enough people to afford the refs, lets put some money back into the game, and not just the mini-museum forming at the gates.

Oh, but Mal, you see the problem with balance is that it's completely a GERMAN problem. Anytime we speak about balance, the Allies' response is "rekruit mor!" Since, clearly, all balance issues are derived from recruiting we may, therefore, conclude that all balance issues result from a lack of initiative on the German side.

Well said man!!! More money needs to be put back into the game and the field. I would like to see Wayne do away with a lot of the garbage that he has laying around the field. I especially would like to see him bulldoze over Colleville, get rid of all those mounds, and build up a "blown out" city. I mean he did that with Caen, and it was relatively affordable. Plus it would be provide a CQB experience, street to street fighting.

As for the refs, I feel that they should do more in regards to paint checks, but with an event that big, the honor system is easier. Plus the refs cannot run across a field just to pull someone for a hit. But, they do need to be more observant on cheaters.

With the new changes coming this year, hopefully it will be a step in the right direction.

Oh man, do I! But my suggestions come from playing on the other side, so I gotta ask if you wanted to stay blue or not? Also what's your age (there is a required minimum for some units).

Talk to the Brandenburgers. They're our eyes in the woods at game on.

Here's a suggestion for those of you who are looking to boost interest
in your units, which isn't going to cost you an arm or a leg. To begin
with search though some of the hundreds of visdeo clips on YouTube
with an eye towards finding footage of your unit, or whichever side
you play on. Either edit that footage together, or get a friend who
knows how to do that sort of thing for you. Take the final product
and burn it onto a DVD. Once you have the footage take it with
you to any events you go to between now and June and play it so
everyone can see what D-Day is really all about. Sure it'll take a
bit of time, but what's more important seeing more players in your
unit or side, or sitting around doing nothing?

Sincerely,

82nd Airborne - Road to Stalingrad

Want to see what playing with members of the 82nd Airborne
Division from D-Day is like, then join them for this event-

‎82nd AB and the Drifters PB team are heading to this scenario
on March, 16th for their first game of 2013, 'Road to Stalingrad,'
being held at Adventure Zone Paintball, Guthrie, OK.

The event is $25 and paint prices are $45, $55 and $65. We will
be rolling as Americans and Team Bad Juju, out of Kansas will be
generaling our side. They played with us at Red Dawn in October
and they were the crazy ones that carried our mobile respawn to
the middle of the bridge... Lets rally out there around 8AM.

It's a scenario about the battle of Stalingrad.. They are actually playing as Germans along with members of the Geisterjagers, Fallschirmjagers, Brandenburgers Kommandos, possibly some from the Marine Einsatzkommandos & Panzerjagers, and at least one group from the 352nd Infanterie.
However, as always, we love to have them with us.

*& it's short notice, but there might also be two teams from the 709th Infanterie Division, if it works out for them.*

Legacy Bord

THE LEGACY BEGINS….WITH YOU!

The 2013 Oklahoma D-DAY will be the symbol of something
new in Scenario Paintball. You may or may not have noticed
that two years ago the theme was its Your Game and this past
year was Band of Brothers. First we looked at how you would
treat your game and we learned a great deal and next we
concentrated on bringing people back into the fold and
concentrating on the event as a whole.

Those two years were spent learning listening and watching as
well as comparing the current situations to the past. 2013 will
be the beginning of something totally different as far as Oklahoma
D-DAY and hopefully the entire sport of scenario paintball. Beginning
last year with the Honor Tag System as well as the T.O.C. game
marked a movement into a new era and style of play. I think that
it is most honest to say from my position that the changes you will
see comes from finally listening to you the customer and working
to make change that has been ignored. Airsoft, the economy, the
fact that people are simply busy have all become great factors in
the success or failure of Oklahoma D-DAY. None of those factors
have been more important than losing focus and not providing you
with something you desire. Losing focus of the game itself and
interaction with those that have in the past been charged with
making the game work has proven fatal.

You have asked loud and clear for a new game and not just a new
game but a new way to play that game. It is not enough anymore
to simply draw that line in the sand and fight and there are many
games out there that do just that. We are going to take excitement
to a whole new level and I hope that in the coming months you like
what you see. Although there will be something new that touches
the interest of everyone I know that there will always be those that
we simply will not satisfy and that is unfortunate, you will be missed
and missing out on something truly authentic. We will do our very
best to bring as many of the suggestions that we get into form and
we will definitely continue to get stronger in what we do and how we
hear you. Although we can't provide everything that is in every mind
out there and there are those that do not understand everything that
takes place we are moving forward. It is always going to be a little bit
D-DAY around here if you know what I mean. We don’t polish our boots
and we have been known to leave a little trash in the yard. But what
you desire most is a challenge on the field and something special to
share about your experience with us. Fresh water and paved roads are
great and we are thinking about that but the game is what you want.
A real fight to see who can truly do it on the field in a way everyone
can enjoy. You also want to enjoy the week with friends and foe alike
in the spirit of the game and have fun. That is not an easy task but
very much something that we will accomplish…..Come find out in June.

THE LEGACY Board has been put into place to annually manipulate,
create, and modify the mechanics of the actual game of Oklahoma
D-DAY by providing council to myself, Dewayne and our staff. We will
then provide a game format each year that will continue to change in
spirit each year. To be honest you may never see the same game
TWICE ever again!

The Legacy Board is made up of (4) specifically invited members this
year with (2) members provided by suggestion of the current command
staff I asked for directly from SAC's three weeks ago. The (6) members
of the board must have played in at least (7) Oklahoma D-DAY events
or contributed in such a way that our staff feels worthy of a post on
the board. There are many reasons that the current members were
chosen and I can tell you that the fact that I think they represent the
pureness of this event and have shown that they cross the lines of
RED and Blue and exist foremost as player's in the sport.

The second reason is each person that I chose has respect from many
areas of the player base and are experienced and knowledgeable in
many areas that represent you the player best. The goal of the board
is to represent the player from experience and with the best interest
of the event and game in mind without regard to the color of the hopper.
These people will help recruit, train, and offer consult to any side and
any player that is willing to reach out to them. They of course may play
in the games during the event but will not be allowed to hold a charge
in any fashion. Please understand they are not here to listen to complaints
or what you feel should be done to the game. They are not here to fight
over how many tank spots you get and why that is fair or not. None of
that matters anymore because you don’t know how many tank spots you
have and you don’t know what to argue about. This group of people will
assist our staff in making an unmistakably unique game that is exciting,
fun and tough that you as player will enjoy and you as command staffs
will find challenging. Command Staffs duties are on the field and in
preparation for battle. The command staff is not in charge of creating
the battle they will fight that simply does not make sense and that is
why things have come to where they are. NO MORE!

Each year (2) new member will be added to the board through a voting
process during the event. The current L.B. will provide names to be voted
upon and members will be honored on Friday during the festivities. Each year
at least(1)member of the sitting Legacy Board will be inducted into the Hall
of Soldiers and take a special place for the efforts and stewardship shown
throughout the years. There are many of you worthy of that at this very
moment but we have to start the process somewhere.

We will absolutely continue to listen to the suggestions when they are
constructive suggestions for mechanics of the game or event but with no
regret do I say that the battle between the command staffs to play this
game before you get here is a thing of the past. It is time to get back
on the field people and we are going to give you plenty to fight for. I
look forward to giving you information as I have it and I hope these
changes find you well. We welcome you to be a part of the new
Oklahoma D-DAY and the legacy begins with all of you.

2013 Legacy Board Members:
Owner Dewayne Convirs
Director of Operations Ed Covey
Game Coordinator Adrian Hopper

Director appointed:
Legacy Member Jason Grifter White
Legacy Member Micheal "Copeland" Copeland
Legacy Member Bill Bailey (Hall of Fame 2013)
Legacy Member Darren "Tank" Weaver (Hall of Fame 2013)

Here is what I think is one of the biggest problems with D-Day and its really not the games fault but living legends is so close to the game and so many companies have dished out money to that game and CPX. That players make a choice go to LL or go to D-Day. I couldn't afford to play both and its the same for a lot of others. I want to go play LL some day and if D-Day is as bad for me this year as next then I will probably go try that game. Just my thought I haven't seen anyone say it.

Event Date Conflicts

Trav2029,

Your observations are spot on as the Brits like to say and
of course you're not the first to make that observation. In
all fairness Dewayne's event not only came first, it's also a
bit hard to see moving the date, especially given D-Day
was June 6th. The reason they gave for moving to the 10th
was so that more highschool aged players can make it, but
let's be honest they probably also figured they'd try and
move it further away from LL, which only got it's start a
few years ago. Ever since I started in this sport there's
always been this business of one event stealing some
of the thunder business.

Over in the UK the promoters realized this problem last
year and have spread things out and that's helped a lot,
but don't hold your breath hoping that'll happen here.
Just one more point, the fields and promoters aren't the
only ones who are to blame for this happening. Just
consider the paint sponors and the role they also play
in this. The only time they're not involved is when
they're sponsoring both events.

Sincerely,

Seeing as many of you who are following this
thread have never been to Oklahoma D-Day I
wanted to share a clip or two of what you can
expect to find when you get there. Here are
two clips taken by a member of the German's
6th FJR unit.

1. Transport view including Colleville, Airfield
and Pegasus Bridge...

2. Helicopter overflight of the camp grounds,
Colleville, Airfield, Utah Beach and vendor areas.

Enjoy!

508th Parachute Infantry Regement

Join the 508th PIR 82nd Airborne--Fury from the Sky!

The 508th PIR of the 82nd airborne is a new regiment for the 2013 DDAY.
The team that have been chosen to run it, Armor Up Paintball, are a great
group of guys. This group of guys have been in the front lines the past 3
D-DAY events and were a force to be reckoned with, we intend to be on
the front lines and in the thick of "battle" again this year and every year
we attend. Our main goal is to have fun at these events not so much the
marching and "military" part. With that said though we play serious and
definitely want to win. If you need a regiment to join and want to have
fun send me a note and I'll give you more info and put you in the 508th
PIR Facebook group so you can get to know everyone before the games
start.

Looking forward to meeting you and defeating the Germans again this
year!
