The #1 reason I ever hear is because of frame stability. I'm not saying the others aren't factors, but more times than not, stability is the answer.
I'd go hard top if I could. But I wouldn't say I'd NEED to.

Akuma didn't build the motor. Cosworth did 
Now... I'm not trying to defend them because I do have a problem with some of the ways my issues were handled; but they have been following through. I also blame myself. I was uneducated and freaked out about a bunch of stuff. Yeah the oil sandwich plate was a stupid and potentially awful **** up but **** happens. Nobody is perfect.
They are going to install the rails for free more than likely and then tune for half price or cheaper. I have a guy that I've been introduced to that is a phenomenally good tuner and will be providing a second opinion on some logs once I send them his way.
Although Akuma didn't offer 100% on every option (IE fuel rails over 3' of line) they did stay in touch, never told me no, and is continually trying to stay up to date on the status of the car. I don't think its as malicious what I made it sound like.
