Director of Water for Elephants and I Am Legend to likely direct the sequel.

i wish the movie was as violent as the books that's all i have to say to compare the 2, I really enjoyed the movie and i really enjoyed the book but they are 2 separate platforms of entertainment. So telling all these people who weren't crazy about the movie to read the book is stupid and snobby. When i watch a movie i choose to do so because i want to watch a movie, i shouldn't have to read a book to make a movie good. If i enjoy the movie (i did) and choose to read the book afterwards that's a different story. But the fact that they felt the need to keep the movie pg 13 or whatever it was is stupid because they could have done alot more with it with a higher rating.

they came in at the top spot for the past 4 weeks, they could have spent more on the prodution and still would have made bank at the end of it all

The books were aimed for a teen audience, and they would never make the movie R. It would abandon their core demographic.

Yes it's been picked up by all ages, but it's still the most popular in the teen demographics.

Very rarely will you see a book that was geared for that audience ever get an R rating movie.

it would still be nice though, but as you said...they would make less revenue because all the wanna-be teens need to get their fix on the latest in movies and books

While the fighting was largely the last half of the book, I believe the lack of violence in the movie was a good move. After all - despite the entire second half of the book being during the Games, she herself doesn't kill but 2 or 3 people, and not that spectacularly, and we don't really see the others dying in the book. Honestly, it's mostly her thoughts about the whole thing that's happening and her feelings. I know, this would make a crappy movie, right?

Those wanting to see more violence in this movie are just focusing on what THEY feel they need in a movie - a violent, explosion filled crapfest that really tells more today's viewer than the actual story line, to be honest.

Oh, and yes, I fit into that same demographic myself, lol!

i do not need to see an expollotion crapfest, but it would have been nice to see who was getting wacked when all the cannon shots were going off. showing their districts on a mega screen over the battlefield didnt cut it for me

I was fine with the amount of action I just wanted it to be better filmed.

That's exactly how it was done in the original story and in book 2. It's the only way to let all the contestants know since they obviously weren't in ALL the battles. Why change it from the original storyline? It worked for the book, it worked (IMHO) for the movie, too.

Need to remember that the story is told primarily through Katniss' point of view, and experiences.

So she only witnesses so much, and that's what you see.

The books are a must. The movie does not show all the relationships and emotions that go on.....

If anyone is near NJ, Hellbent is having a Hunger Games scenario game in September. They have a thread on PBNation. Check it out!

Movie was pretty close to the book. I typically reread the book after I see the movie because the reverse ruins the movie. The closest to book I have seen were the Lord of the Rings and they were like 10 hours each or something like that.

It is nice to have a visual to the story, and tbh, the characters don't look too far off from described in the books either. Great casting for sure!
