talked to the shop today, and gave them the RTAB limiters I ordered. They're taking care of everything. So glad I didn't have to fight with them.

They're hard to open, especially with the windows up. The driver door handle feels brittle, and stopped working one day, so I have a feelin it's going to break soon

my driver's door sticks pretty bad. it's either in the latch mechanism or the striker. i'm not sure which is the culprit, but i'm waiting until it warms up to mess with it again.

Some of you might remember me posting about a certain junkyard that sent me black sport seats instead of grey...
I got such a good deal that I decided to just make a project out of it and re-dye them to match my interior rather than hassle with sending them back. I contacted the guys at leatherique and ordered a kit.
After I got the supplies, it was time to start setting up.
Yes, I made a spray booth in my bedroom.
First step was to apply the rejuvantor oil and let it soak in.
Why is there a mess in the paint booth already?
After the rejuvantor soak and a quick cleaning, I started stripping the old dye by wetsanding prep agent and 800 grit sandpaper.
After the first coat...
I was very impressed with how well the light color covered the old black after only 2 coats.
The grain is still very prominent, which was my biggest concern since this system is more or less a "painting" technique.
After 3 coats, the seats are looking good. I'm going to let the dye cure for a couple days, then wetsand with 2000 grit and apply one last coat. I'm hoping to have them installed by the weekend.

Why wouldn't you leave them black? White is too hard to keep clean.

my light colored seats have held up ok, but there is a blue mark on them from jeans. I asked the detailer to try to get it out last time, but it is still there. Will have to try myself, but not now its too cold.

Hahaha, yeah, I had to make a point of quitting by a certain time every night so it had time to air out and I could actually sleep in my room.

I have a grey interior, I'm trying to match them to what I already have.

Eh, it'd have been a fair bit of extra work to move my desk/bookshelf/dresser to make that happen. I already had that corner basically cleared out (all that normally sits there is my tv/tv stand) so I just moved the tv for the time being, draped plastic over my tv stand and used that as a work surface while I was in the booth.

It's wonderful college furniture. I've had mine for 5 years and ~10 moves, it's certainly starting to show it's wear though. I don't think I'll be able to disassemble/reassemble the bed frame anymore, it's pretty well shot. I'll have to get something new when I finally move into a house.
