I have been playing paintball for about thirteen years on and off in my early years I used my dads tried and true 98 Custom and recently I have bought my own. I have purchased and installed a zero kick hammer and a response trigger and a low velocity spring. I finally gotnitball to work without me having to re-pull the hammer every few shots. Now, this is where the problem occurs. With a remote line and HPA Tank in, the response trigger will now barely shoot if two or three shots in rapid succession. I was wondering if that would be causing me problems. Should I go back to C02? Get a bigger HPA tank?? I am open to suggestions.
Well I know to tune it but even still it seems that when I screw the tank directly in that it puts the RT on steroids.
Also, I tried five springs (including the stock) I went thought two tanks and an entire Thursday afternoon and the low velocity spring is the only one that would let the bolt engage with the seer. Even with the low velocity I can shoot at my fields 250 reg just fine and still reach out and touch people.
If it works good when you screw it directly in the gun and not when you use the remote, could be something wrong with the remote. i also know remotes can make the air more inconsitent so maybe the low velocity spring is messing with it, or I know they suggest using SHP Reg with RT but make sure your tank is atleast putting out 850 psi or so.
Well I use a very basic JT tank and remote line and I am ordering a 4500 psi line with a slide check and a Guerilla 68 cu 4500 psi HPA tank so I am hoping it will have the desired kick to it...
And I did some work with tuning it but the only place that fills air in pcola is the field I play at and it's a solid 30 minutes away from my house so I only worked a little with it the last time I played on Saturday.
Would you gentlemen recommend an electronic board??
And with the stock bolt and spring in it worked fine, but I am trying to get my 98 to be more of a precision marker and not just spray and pray like I am usually partial to...
Well they have Valken Graffiti balls there... I like them well enough. Is the "Flask Barrel system" any good? I am using Hustlepaintball for my equipment purchases and that's the barrel kit that they have that I have my sights on.
internal "up"grades on Tippmanns usually aren't... I've heard of lots of guys having issues with zero kick hammers...
Go back to the stock internals, problem solved. Your 98 is fine stock, and will shoot great with a good barrel. Personally I use a j&j barrel, and it shoots great. Especially when paired with an Apex 2 and good paint.
Alright, thanks guys ill give all of your input a shot! And I asked for an apex2 from my special lady for valentines so I'll see what she does... But thanks for the help I have some tinkering to do with my tippmann!
Alright I got a game together with some friends this Saturday so I will definitely try out some if the stuff you guys were talking about then let you know if it works...

Zero kick hammers do honestly nothing but problems same for front bolts, only thing i enjoy is metal power tubes
Any internal "upgrade" for 98's A5's or classic X7's is a waste IMHO. The only reason I could see for a metal/aluminum power tube is if you are using co2. The rest just take money out of your wallet.
Well I finally got it to work but it still can't compete with those electric guns so I think I am going to gift it to my brother and get a virtue board in it.

At that point beat them with accuracy not volume. No need to spend the extra money on a Virtue board when you can spend the money on buying paint and improving your game. Trust me you will feel pretty bad *** when you beat some joker shooting 15bps at you with 1 shot cause you learned how to be on point.

'mon.. let me just borrow that soul for a lil bit...
Well where I play it is really tree and bush heavy (and cheater heavy which BPS can help with for sure.) so usually what happens is I place a few shots and maybe even hot the guy in those few shots. Them all of a sudden, three or four people come down on me shooting 15-20 BPS pinning me down. with good maneuvering and smart bobbing in and out to take pot shots at them I can escape. I want to be able to pin THEM down with my better accuracy and have somerhig that shoots faster than six BPS.
