They are a bit more maintenance heavy in the way that you have to add a bit of oil every 1k miles, and check it every other fill up. Most guys who are into the cars will "premix" their oil and add a bit at fill up depending on how much they put in the tank.

That being said, its the simplest engine out there, and there is really only 1 mode of failure, and that is the apex seal. If you pre mix, or just keep an eye on the oil, you can own one with no issues for years to come.
What do you mean premix the oil ?

Pretty sure he means mix a little bit of oil with gas, like how you mix 2-stroke oil and gas for a lawn mower or weed whacker.

Something to do with a certain seal that doesn't get lubricated using the drip system from what I believe is the tranny fluid. Since it gets misted in with the gas it is able to coat everything more evenly.

The apex seals that blow all the time become much more durable when they're not all dried out.

It's sort of like the piston rings in a traditional motor. Imagine there's no oil around the pistons, and the cylinder walls are getting no lubrication at all. It's probably gonna eat through rings and leave you with no compression pretty damn quick.

The oil keeps the whole thing lubricated better and makes them last longer.

Right, they're fine cars--if you stay on top of the maintenance, which is why I wouldn't recommend it to a casual buyer.

Don't RX7s have an oil injection kind of like 2 stroke outboards ? and if they do wouldn't you get some crazy *** carbon deposits ?

I always loved the *******s who didn't trust oil injection on jet skis and outboards so they pre mixxed The gas like a dirt bike . They would say if the oil injection goes your motor is dead , same goes for a lot of things if your water impeller goes and you don't realize the motor is also dead .

I think he might be talking about some industrial process used to dye large pieces of fabric before it is cut into individual articles of clothing.
