I've been in a wreck in a spot that was a spot I drove through 3 or 4 times a day. I remember it but never got paranoid really.

Except that they will run forever, fairly easy to make power, and just about the safest vehicle you can buy.

That's a pretty gnarly smash thoug., good to hear that you're okay

Would you pay close to 10gs for an is300 with over 200k miles? or a honda civic with 174k that is priced at 6k?
You can get civics way cheaper than that unless you're talking about really new ones.

As for an IS, you can easily find those for 7-8k with reasonable miles. But that's a luxury car/brand, it's not going to be cheap regardless.

Get a V6 Accord. They've got plenty of nut for most people, they are easy to keep stock, should be reasonably priced, and will be incredibly reliable.

150k on most Hondas is nothing. You can easily take them to 300k. If you need a car to last that you don't want to put money into and don't need it to be fast or baller status, Accords are pretty much perfect.

Edit: Or just drive the SHO and use the money you were going to use on a new car on maintenance and keeping it on the road. This is probably the more sensible option...

For once we agree on something.

Better yet, up your price limit to 7k, buy a car and then immediately put the SHO up for sale.

I'm not selling the car that took me from NE to MS and from MS to CA. I bought it a few issues away from heading to the scrap yard then brought it back to life and have put over 30k miles on it. It's the vehicle I learned how to work on cars with

thoughts on a VR6 jetta?

I'm sorry, no offense, but you seem helpless.

Your requirements leave you with next to nothing. If you upped the price, you find something... but that cant happen.
If you let gas mileage be less of a factor, you might find something.... but that cant happen.
If you bought a zippy car with lots of aftermarket support, you might find something... but that cant happen (how about getting some self control).
If you didnt mind be a little crunched with space, you might find something... but that cant happen.

Not to mention in the OP you state you dont want a rolling turd of a car... something good looking....
Are you aware of how ugly the older SHO taurus's (first, second and third generation) are?! Hell, the cars actually get progressively worse over the years with the 3rd generation being one of the ugliest cars i've seen.

Your sentimental reasons for keeping it are a bit absurd... selling a certain car when its running perfect is actually the best time. I dont care where it took you, or how reliable it has been to you... theres always an end to a chapter in your life... and this accident may have been that end. I've put over 100k miles on my Audi... that doesnt mean i'm going to be stubborn and not know when to realize its gotta go. Out with the old, in with the new.

So you want to buy a reliable DD with good gas mileage... but cant find ****... all while you have a car that doesnt get great gas mileage, is old, and very ugly but you wont sell it?

You're not being realistic at all here.

Get your insurance money, sell the SHO, buy one decent, reliable, and enjoyable car and be done with it.

as for the Jetta.... me being a VAG owner, i'm going to say thats one of your best choices. They have their fair share of electrical issues, but nothing major, and if its a 1.8t, the engine should last quite a long time. But this car does fall into the category of "would eventually modify the car"... (if the VAG scene calls to you)

That falls into the "may want to mod" category as well as the "premium" category.

01 VR6 with 120k miles for 3700 vs 01 V6 Accord with 102k miles for 7k or an 01 VR6 with 92k miles a fresh timing chain, timing guides and water pump for 4700. What makes the accord worth another 2300? Of course that's the asking price but there's little chance of talking them down over 25% of the price of the vehicle.

or I could splurge on an 01 accord V6 with 180k for 6...

I'm hardly a kid... I make enough and have a credit score high enough that I could easily finance a car if I wanted to. I just don't want to.

Coming from the guy who made a new thread, although we clearly have a thread for this.

Keep shooting down good options though, I hope you enjoy two broken down cars.

Your "want" list is absolutely retarded. ST:A trolls when people make stupid threads.

I'm not going to suggest it again... sell or trade in the SHO and stick with one reliable car that will get you from point A to point B. Hell, at this point, a base model cruze will be better looking, better on gas, and more reliable than your SHO. Why have 2 old ****boxes when you can have 1 newer reliable car?

It'd be one thing if you had some mint condition old camaro SS that your dad passed down to you... but no, its some old SHO that bought as even more of a reck than it currently is... Let it go and move on.
