I'm glad I found this thread, you guys are cool

of course, if i had my own place, i'd have a big tank wall mounted, and a big tank that wasn't wall mounted. one freshwater, one saltwater.

I grew up with my dad having a 230 wall mounted
I will get one.
Hopefully will be putting one in my house soon.
Just don't have a great place to put it:/

I can't see myself spending thousands on a salt tank sadly, no matter how much I want to.
Protein skimmers are so ****ing expensive! Not to mention the other dozen or so things that cost hundreds of doll hairs.

I used to think paintball was akin to professional money burning.
Then I learned how much salt tanks were.

i still much prefer the look of a well-planted freshwater tank.

that's just me, of course.
i probably won't own a saltwater tank for many many years.
i think i'm just going to line my tank with a bunch of jungle val and let it grow.

i didnt have to pay for **** at the tail end of my paintball playing so a fish bowl is almost more expensive than paintball was. before i started playing more competitively while i was still in high school and beginning college...that sucked
i would like to get some salt stuff going but i am still learning with planted scapes and i am going to build a nice spotted turtle (maybe DBT's, haven't decided) set up once i move...i think that is enough for now

For you guys interested in saltwater but dont want to pay the high price of buying new, keep your eye on craigslist, I have done very well on there when it comes to saltwater set ups, usually complete with everything u need for around 3-500$$ would cost you alot more buying everything new, but it could be just my area.

I browse craigslist all the time for this very reason. I'd love to find the perfect salt setup, or even just a very large tank within reasonable distance.

If your area CL is anything like mine I have had more luck searching the "general" section for saltwater than the pet section that usually gets flagged and deleted...

I usually scroll through both. The best I found was a 225 gallon tank with starphire glass and a cherry stand for $700. It also came with hood and lights

That 225 is pretty much EXACTLY what I'm looking for. I want a breeding pair of Dovii. Can't have anything smaller than a 220 for a pair imo.
http://augusta.craigslist.org/fod/3548183547.html < I'd love that but I can only IMAGINE what the price on that is...

I think, for what I'm looking to spend, either a 120 or 180 would suffice. I need the added thickness that both tanks offer.
What do you guys think? The biggest fish in have is a black Ghost knife followed by 3 Bichirs.
There isn't much on Craigslist right now, hopefully that changes over the next week or so.
