Sounds like someone over-exaggerating how often issues happen in a car. I mean, it's not like it's as common as crankwalk in DSM engines or anything.

Yeah I was upset. Yeah I lost money on a tow. But I think things are being handled correctly... maybe not efficiently but things are back on track.

I do have questions about how they've told me to break in my motor. 500 miles no boost under 5k RPMs and varying loads/engine braking. Most people seem to think the engine needs boost right away... what do y'all think?
Tune for waste gaste boost, stay out of boost, vary RPM, down shifting to stops. Try to avoid highway cruises.

You rings are not worn out, and I assume it's not been overheated, so you shouldn't be getting uber bad piston slap.
The engine did get pretty hot when I lost the oil and it got a little hot. It didn't overheat really though. The EGT was a little high and I lost oil and oil pressure. Car ate coolant and that was about it.

I hit a little boost tonight on accident pulling into traffic... this thing is going to be a monster.

It hasn't seen a whole lot of boost. Maybe have given it 5-7 psi today and before the sandwich plate came loose. Some people say its good to go hard break in with boost. But the tuner said he runs his new motors slightly more lean to make sure the rings seat to the walls better.

I'm planning on doing a beater NA forester for winter driving.

So, assuming I keep my car, I'm left with a long list of **** to do that I'm not sure I'm looking forward to ****ing with.

We have to get new axles and get them replaced. Now, this will all be covered by the auto parts store, but it'll be a few hundred out of pocket initially. Gotta fix our damn ABS sensor (we have it, just have to do it). Gotta dip my wheels. ****, I'll just make a list.

- Axles
- ABS Sensor
- Dip Wheels
- Find leak and fix (power steering we think again)
- Multiple parts in the right rear to replace
- Install front right end link

Then onto the road of exhaust, Stage 2, gauges, lower it a it, get a V2 AP, Stage 3. That sorta jazz.

So much **** to do.

Going 50 in a 35 this morning and someone in the oncoming lane flicked their lights. Cop was sitting literally 100 feet in front of me. GGG on a Monday morning.

I do that when I pass one and see someone flying.

So we located the oil leak. ****ing oil actually dripping onto headers and onto ground. But my dipstick isn't reading low. Looks to be either valve cover gasket (a ****ing gain) or possibly coming off the block half. Pretty ****ing pissed off right now man. I'm so ****ing tired of this ****.

Valve covers always leak in our cars due to the sideward positioning

Valve covers always leak in general when you get a lot of miles on. Unless it's really pouring out I'd just wipe it every once a while and ignore it.

I feel your pain. That is why I'm going to try to find a cheap forester as a beater and it will be my new project to work on during the spring. Then come winter I can drive that and park the STI.

I've learned now to really let go and just ride out the issues with my car. Since its been adjusted I don't have terrible stumble but its still there. I will be calling them Tuesday and see if the addition of fuel hose is a viable option. I think if not I will get the rails and fpr since I plan to go rotated and FMIC in the near future.

However, I don't plan to continue this relationship unless they pull some stunts out of their hat that really impress me. I am a little disappointed but I guess you have to deal with it when it comes to rolling with the big boys now.

Yeah...and lose half a liter of displacement? No thanks.

My suggestion was start with the various 703 blocks I had found on Nasioc/ebay at the time.

We replaced both of them like 2000 miles ago.

This is dripping. But it only sometimes happens. But it's definitely oil. With my valve cover leak it just oozes out, dripped a bit, and smoked off the headers.

Not sure what to think here. I can constantly smell it but some stops it's smoking everywhere and others I barely smell it. I've tried beating the hell out of it and just cruising in to a stop and neither seems to stimulate it particularly. This is why I thought it was power steering again, based on the come and go of it. But it smells like oil.

It's sitting on the headers just underneath the passenger side of the car. We have touched nothing over there recently so there's really no reason why it would have occurred so suddenly like it did.

If anyone has any ideas, we're stumped. And it's pretty ****ing annoying. And my parents are going ***** mode about the idea of me getting something else so I'm stuck in this piece of **** lemon of a car.

That half liter realllly isn't a big deal. You miss out on a little bit of low end power before boost finishes spooling up, but it more than makes up for it with its 1500+ higher rpm redline and the fact that it's designed and built by Subaru instead of some local guy.
