New to the gog family

Purchased an Extcy. This is the first electronic gun I have owned. Just spent the morning breaking it down and getting familiar with parts and maintenance. No upgrades other than DW Fibur with freak kit. Pics to come.

My question is about the bolt upgrade choice. I am a fan of DW but did not if anyone would suggest different on the bolt upgrade.

Thanks for any help

Here is a pic after a breakdown to study the internals. Clean and ready!

Techt L7 bolts for the Ion XE will work also. The Deadlywind bolt can ultimately be tuned for the best performance but the L7 is a bit simpler of an installation and still a good performer. Your choice on that one really, I've used both and they are both great.

Any thoughts on the fire bolt that is produced by gog? Are they all fairly similar?

Firebolt is too much like the stock bolt to be worth the cash. I think it's a little lighter, but not enough to matter. Go with L7 or Hollowpoint (DW's bolt... i think that's the name...). Although, i'd rather have a qev instead of a new bolt - boasts similar performance improvements but much cheaper (just not as easy to install). Could also upgrade bolt AND get qev, but that's your and your wallet's decision.

Thanks. I have been looking at getting both before the weather gets good again. Leaning towards the DW bolt right now. May go with the stock for a bit to get the feel of it.

Why are the cheaper markers going back to braided steel hoses?

Play with it stock. There is absolutely nothing wrong with it. If you don't like something about it or need better performance from it then put more money into it. But it's a great shooter as is, save some $$ and use it for paint.

And they're cheaper than macroline + fittings, believe it or not.

Went and played yesterday. The gun preformed great and I was super impressed. My friend has a G4 and I felt our set ups were different but not on different playing fields. Great purchase. What is the best type of grease for the internals?

The usual recommendation is GoG/SP's own GR33SE/SL33K which are more or less the same thing renamed. Most other Dow-33 lubricants will work just as well; plain Dow Corning branded Molykote 33 will be cheapest, ounce-for-ounce.
