Haha, we chose it because there's a tourney in Brownsville (on February 16-17th) that's using the same layout, and we figured it would help teams from CTPL familiarize themselves with the layout. Plus it's one of the best layouts from the 2012 season!

its not bad. i mean weve been practicing with the no home bunker thing, but the only diff was the it was the diamond snake, so were gonna see if we can throw up that layout at comanche this weekend to get some good practice

The Chicago diamond... I really hate that thing lol. We'll be at Comanche as well, so we'll see you there.

I just checked the registered teams... Rage isn't currently registered. Are they a D4 team?

Games ran slow, ~4-5 min games, and 4-6 mins of downtime between games. Refs would start the buzzer early, and when the point ran out of time and people were still on the field, they didn't call "time" to signal that the point ran out of time. Some are nice refs, but some were complete dicks. Regan was pulling amending rules from PSP rule book as things came up, and was afraid to step on peoples toes so he usually went with the side that had more people complaining. Thanks to Alex, regan was able to finish the tournament with a quick tempo, the way it should have started out with. Not too many teams were happy with the way this tournament went and can honestly be very great because of the turn-outs it brings, but it definatly needs to bring its A-game.

I agree 100% with the slow tempo. Game time was set at 4 minutes for every game, but there was way too much time between games waiting for players to enter the field, chronoing guns, etc. I'm not sure what you mean about the buzzer starting early... the way it was set was that the head ref would yell "READY", then first buzzer would sound. After 1st buzzer there was a set 5 second delay before the second "go" buzzer (set and ran through the scoreboard to take out the human aspect). The buzzer would sound at the end of the 4 minutes and refs would call game. There was only one time I can remember that a player didn't know game was over and continued playing on.
I pulled rules directly from the rulebook that was sitting on the table, but, unfortunately, PSP leaves the rulebook open to interpretation.
Typically if a call was made on the field and a team complained I told them that I couldn't reverse the call and it was done. I did change a call after consulting the rulebook, but honestly that's the only one I can remember.
Alex was a HUGE help during playoffs.
In short, I wasn't happy with the way things went either. The good news is that this was our first D4 event, and I/we learned a LOT. We will be making some changes before next event for sure. Getting rid of round robin, ref changes/training, and a faster tempo will be a few things that WILL be better. If anyone has any recommendations that you feel will help improve the league, please let me know by emailing ctpl12@live.com or call me at 830-377-2336.
