Gf just spent the last 10 hours in a hospital, was given morphine, **** load of tests taken of her abdomen and pelvis, and they still have no idea what is wrong with her. She's been having the worst pains in her abdomen the past 2 days. She says it's the second worst pain she's ever felt, next to the time, 10 years ago, where she was literally hours away from death because the same hospital, where she is at now, had an easy chance at a diagnosis and didn't test for it; which nearly killed her. Hope they get as lucky the second time around, if it comes to that.

That sounds terrible. I know that it is hard for the people on the outside to see people going through hard times, so stay strong for her. She needs you.

They did a scan of her appendix, it looks fine.
Her dad is retired military, so she gets all of her stuff free at the hospital on base, but the service that comes along with free care is... poor.
She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes 10 years ago, when her pancreas just randomly gave out on her out of nowhere. The doctor told her that she was literally hours away from death, and she had been to the hospital before to try and figure out what was wrong. They apparently tested her for everything, BUT diabetes.
She's just really pissed about it all and sick of the military hospital. She has to go there to order her insulin and has appointments all the time to keep tabs on her diabetes, and she says that the service is terrible.
Maybe she will end up fine, maybe not. I've asked her if getting a second opinion is an option, but she has seemed reluctant, as she doesn't have much money, and her dad has been unemployed. But she is seriously concerned about it so we might go to another hospital.

She can easily go get a second opinion all she has to do is call the tricare number for her region and tell them she is far from the base and going to a local hospital and they will tell her everything she needs to do to be covered... however some people prefer to not try to go through the process...

Thanks man. I will tell her about it and see if she is up to it. Is the process a huge pain in itself?

Well I just hope that "Obamacare" is as great as the president makes it sound. (probably not) She goes through insulin bottles like crazy, which is ****ing expensive. 250$ per 10ml bottle, which lasts her about 2 weeks. I understand it's probably expensive to make and all that, but she would be dead if it wasn't for her dad's military insurance, which is going to expire for her here in a few years. Life sucks sometimes.
Might have to really look into contacting my friend and making bootleg insulin for her... semi-srs

Well, it's fortunately not to that point, at least not yet. To go to another doctor for their opinion on the matter isn't very expensive. But if that doctor wants to run a different set of tests, then I think that is where things could get ugly, but I don't know yet. I'll see how fsu's suggestion on tricare will work.

Oh yeah; I'm sure that never occurred to her.
brb- she's saving up to go to school.
brb- working two jobs.
brb- she's 20 and her divorced parents don't pay for anything, other than let her stay at her dads place for free.

What does your parents being divorced have to do with anything? My parents got divorced when I was one as soon as I tuned 18 I got dropped from my dads insurance. So I went and got a job at Kroger working 40 hrs to qualify for there insurance. I was going to school full time granted my mom was smart and set a college fund up for me

megapost ahead.
Not going on that date tomorrow. I cancelled it. Basically she didn't seem too thrilled about it either so I spoke to her and we figured out where we were both at.
Back-tracking a little, I'd known her since about the time school started. We were on a casual hooking up type basis for a while. It started to get old for both of us. At first, she really wanted a relationship, then she got freaked out because I wasn't into her like that. Post christmas break I started to get the feelings she had while hers were dying down. So I asked her out then. She said yes but it wasn't the yes I wanted.
aaaanyways I went up to her room. We talked about it until we were on the same page and I told her that since we wanted different things we should just end it right away.
For some reason I feel great though. She was absolutely gorgeous, we had pretty much identical personalities, and the sex was amazing, but I think I made the right move. It was just too unhealthy.
This weekend I'm having a one night stand to celebrate.
