Recently got this shocker in a trade. I'm running into an issue though... No matter how hard I torque, I cannot remove the reg. My thinking is that either the Hulk put it on, or it's been loctite'd down.

Now this may be a stupid question, but I am unfamiliar with CP regs, and thought I'd at least ask it before taking a wrench to the thing. I did a search on the forums and Google and could not find any info (either in post or the manual).

The reg has two screws on it that look as if they could be used to install a gage. One has a black set screw, and the other a silver one. Is it possible that one of these screws somehow actuates a mechanism that crimps down on the threading to prevent the reg from unscrewing? Like I said, it may be a silly question, but the thing is on their tight and I don't want to take a wrench to it and risk screwing it up even more.

Anyone have any tips on how to get this thing off?

No that wouldn't have anything to do with your inability to remove the regulator. If you can, try to get your hands on a strap wrench. If you can't find one, they are a good thing to purchase and can be found at a hardware store. They are super handy for all kinds of things. The cheaper ones will serve fine for paintball related use.

If the thing was loctite'd in (and it really feels like it was), should I be taking any additional steps to weaken the loctite bond before trying to remove the reg again?

You can try lightly heating the reg and vertical asa with a hair dryer and then going at it. If it is loctited, for whatever reason, that should be enough to soften it. Hopefully it's not cross threaded.

Strap wrench and make sure to strap it around the top of the reg.

I do not believe it is cross threaded as it lines up perfectly with the ASA. I'm hoping it's not at least. I'll try to pick up a strap wrench tonight.

Should I be worried about the strap wrench damaging the anno at all? I guess my question is, should I place something between the strap wrench and the reg to act as a buffer? I know it may sacrifice some of the torque power, but the anno on this marker so far is almost flawless. I don't want to mess it up.

If you get a rubber strap wrench with a plastic handle then you should have no worries. Now if you want some real gripping power you could use a bench vise and turn the marker or use some vice grips. Those would mark up the anno. Unless you put some wood into the bench vice.
Though it sounds like you don't have those kind of tools.

Unfortunately I do not have those... My dad has all of the above mentioned, but he's 2.5 hours away (assuming the mountain pass is not closed). I'll get some strap-wrenches tonight. Got to go to the store anyways...

Well... I managed to break the strap wrench pulling too hard. This was after heating the metal for 30ish seconds (fairly warm).

You have 2 simple options.
1) take the allen key that fits the big set screws in the top section of the reg stick it in a screw and use it for leverage.
2) The body of the cp reg is made up of 3 pieces. Separate the lower 2 sections from the top section with the 2 big screws in it. Now look up inside the top section it's a large allen key just stick it in and wrench it off.

It must be on there seriously tight if the strap wrench didn't get it off.

Not being an *** but are you loosening it the right way..i.e right tighty, lefty loosey. A strap wrench and heat should be able to take it off no problem.
