Any recommendations for a good photo editing software for Macs? Any help would be appreciated.

Photoshop or Gimp for major editing and Picaso for minor one click editing.

I use PS6 and run it from my external drive where it's installed via USB 3.0.

It's worked flawlessly for me so far, runs as smooth as it should also. I've disconnected my drive without 'ejecting' it plenty of times too, nothing goes wrong. I just like to keep my SSD as clear as possible so I keep it on there.

Adobe Photoshop is like the Mac of the photo editing world, its far too expensive for being able to do the same things as Gimp. But seeing as youre using a Mac then thats probably ok.

Except that GIMP's layout is confusing as all hell.
Lightroom is a much more user-friendly interface for photographers, and it's also much cheaper.

Ive never used Lightroom so I cant judge it.
I may be biased because I started on Gimp long before Photoshop but I found Photoshop more confusing. But admittedly I can see why people would prefer Photoshop and if it were a lot cheaper (<$50) I would probably give it another try.

Lightroom is built for photographers. It's got a built-in library, plays nice with RAW files, has the most commonly used adjustments right where they should be, etc.

it really is hard to recommend one or the other if all you say is "i needs to edit photos man" but lightroom will work well for most general stuff (like supra said, commonly used adjustments) and if all you need is to make changes to overall characteristics of the photo, it'll work well. photoshop will do much of the same, but in a different and more involved manner, and will also be able to do much more detail-oriented editing jobs.
but, seeing as you don't have any actual prerequisites in mind, I can't imagine you're too into any of this anyway, so WHATEVER MAN
