So I take it you don't have much tournament experience.
For a snake player, the capacity advantage is more than enough to help, that's why I'll be using it when I play snake in any tournament that allows it. I swear, almost every time I get a snake player out after the break or get shot out in snake it's when we're getting a pod from our pack. In a tournament, not having to use a pod as often is an amazing advantage. Yes, I know you can get a bigger loader, but that still doesn't mean you can put more .68 into a pod.

Lol, funner
I'm not a big fan of .50 cal. It's not near as common as .68 cal. is, so paint, hoppers, and markers aren't near as common.

i certainly enjoy using .50 jt splatmaster paint out of my ego 08 with a conversion kit, quite fun and cheap, i was mowing people one day i used it in the woods shooting through stick bunkers and grass, they got very frustrated with me because they couldn't hide if you can get a gun or a conversion kit for cheap and use it with an existing gun i definitely suggest trying it. if you play pump for one weekend and instead of buying $100 in paint you can get a conversion kit and a spyder rapid-E loader and a case of splatmaster paint and try it out, i certainly enjoy it but it is up to the individual, everyone who i let try it at my local field thought it was fantastic. i even played with some little kids and showed them that it didn't hurt in front of their dad, i've shot myself point blank in the hand with it to prove it.
everyone has their opinions, for me i like both forms, all paintball is enjoyable to me.

practice keeping your profile lower. I never get shot getting a pod out and I play snake side almost exclusively; but I'm also not chicken-winging it when pulling the pod out of my pack. Keep your arms as close to your side as possible.

I don't think you understand.
I'm 6'2" and not nearly the thinnest form on the field. The way I stay in snake already has a very little amount of clearance as it is (because I lay on my leg so I can hop up or simply lift my torso off of the ground to shoot over snake while still being able to drop down). When I don't chicken wing (Which is always because my pods are just above my *** and not just above the middle of my back) I always turn my body just a bit to make it easier to get the pod.
It's still not like it's an every time I play snake occurrence, but it's how I'm usually shot out since I'm in a way that lets me to above the snake/race/cake quick then drop fast and be ready to take off into a sprint that holds me at a height almost twice as high as laying prone and two and a half times as long as sitting crouched. Add the fact on that my thighs and body aren't near thin (although still proportional) and that makes for a larger target than say a 5'6" stick of a player.

And it's not better, it's simply different.

personally i believe that 50 cal serves its purpose of getting new people into the sport and enjoying it but i do believe it will never replace 68 as the norm

i personaly think that 50 cal could become better. make it with a more brittle shell, add a bit more weight so energy could transfer better. but the only thing i could see is that we should be able to up our fps. say 400-450 fps. that would make it alot more fun. the best thing i can see is that we would be able to put more speed behind our balls so it will get to our target sooner, so no poping your head out of a dorito and poping it back in when you see a barrel and being safe. you would be able to hit your target a bit quicker and that would make one shot kills more often. also the cost factor is better.

Do you even know why we have a limit in place?...
It's not simply because 300fps hurts less than 350fps, it's because ASTM standards only require lenses to be rated to the average output force of a paintball traveling at 300fps. That being said, .50 could get to say 350fps and stay withing standards but then you get into insurance issues if insurance says "300fps is what we'll cover for your field". Besides, as it is, you only lose about 20 feet of range with a .50 as comparted to a .68, and .50 already runs a shell as brittle as the manufacturer will make it.

Not a really fair question...
I would like to know the general answer though...
I have yet to see .50 cal played anywhere.. at least here in the gulf coast area..
Has it really hit mainstream yet? i know alot of markers make conversions.
