I'm going on a little vacation, and want to bring some of my gear since there is a field nearby. I just wanted to know what to do when flying with my gear, how to protect it, what can and can't be brought on a plane, any forms I may need when checking my bags...

It's recommended you print out and stick those forms into the cylinder body. Many TSA personal don't know all (or any) of the ins and outs of transporting cylinders. So if/when they go through your checked bag they can read the regulation from their website.
If there is any doubt you can always mail it to your hotel or where ever you are staying. Just phone ahead and let them know about the package, who you are, and to hold it until you arrive.

Yeah I usually mail my crap in a Priority flatrate box. I mean yeah it "could" get lost or stolen, but same for on a plane, ya know?

I just hate putting up with TSA.

What tabris said works. Ive done this and opened my suitcase at the hotel and found smudge marks from some TSA inspectors grubby little paws that handled my bottle. I also recommend printing a 2nd copy and keeping it in your pocket, just in case.
