Only a few more months till I get out. Time seems to be going so much slower since I dropped that terminal leave chit.

Stupid plasti-dipped submarines.

Dude you know what's nasty as ****? Plastisol when its hot. It got up to 100F on the boat during dead electric in the shipyard, and the Helm/Planes yokes started getting all oily. Nobody could figure out why and then I realized it was years and years of body oil weeping from the plastic...

Yeah, below decks sucked dick at night. It would get up to like 30 right below the weapon shipping hatch. To compound that suckfest the LET's were removed and there were these nice gaping anal sized holes in the boat.
Usually I was like "**** this" and went down to torpedo room lower level or Aux Machinery 1 where we had freeze protection rigged. It was like 67 down there at all times.

whole time on the boat I don't think I ever dealt with anything under 50 or anything over maybe 102 not counting during drills....damn eng loved cutting the AC to maneuvering and then would sit at the window and watch us all cook. 8-9 people in that small space got nasty really fast

Even though we were airwing we worked out of an AIMD shop. So constant 70 degrees for us. The only time it was real ****ty was drills and shutting off AC. I worked nights and they would almost always run GQ during the day. Boom AC goes off and we are in our racks under cats 1 & 2 sweating balls.

I remember being in between two black pieces of steel, with no breeze, in the middle of the day for 6 hours, with humidity at about 90% and a temperature of nearly 100 degrees, wearing a vest and a stupid ****ing Kevlar helmet.
I also remember bringing extra 9mm and 12 GA rounds to work for those days...

I was actually surprised how many sub guys are in here. When I looked in here I expected to see more skimmers.
Aloha from Hawaii.

The worst for me was not on the boat but in Cuba guarding detainees. 100+ degrees and anywhere from 75-90% humidity. Then you have dammed DCUs, Kevlar vest (they were out of "stab vests" so I got ****ed with the hotter/heavier Kevlar) and no shade (pending where you were and what you were doing. Either way you were working 12-16hr days in that weather.
You could only be so lucky to have one of them throw **** on you so that you could go to medical in the AC and get checked out/cleaned off.

Oh, the hottest I've been by far would be on the flight deck in the gulf during the summer. 115*+ add in a black flight deck, and 20 + jet engines. Cover yourself in a turtle neck, leather boots and gloves and a cranial and you come off drenched.

We rigged up a series of space heaters in dper and hid in there. During the summer we tapped into the welders cool air box and routed a tube to control and aimed it at the bcp and just chiles in the cow seat between rounds
