Just get used to getting bonus balled alot and dealing with the occasional bunkering.

I came home with more welps from speedball than i ever did from rec play. But i also had a lot more fun playing speedball and my rec game and snapshooting got much better

Get on youtube and look up some drills and exercises u can do to make you a smarter speed player

If your focus is on taking other players out of the game, you won't feel a thing.

Here is my take. Getting shot hurts from close range. If you sit at one bunker the whole game and allow people to advance to get a better shot, your going to get a couple in your arm and chest. If you move from bunker to bunker and play your bunkers, you might only catch one shot. A moving target is much harder to hit. In speedball I focus on getting to a bunker or shoot a lane at the break.

I practiced with Excalibur this weekend and really didn't get lit up when they had the chance. If you play with good guys, they play with some concern of the target's health.

For me, I get lit up every now and then. If focus on reading lanes off the break and no make stupid rundowns, then the times I get out are usually from one or two shots. But there are times where getting lit up happens and its unavoidable. Just stomach it and keep playing the game.

Believe it or not. Pain is mostly psychological. That is, for little pains like stubbing your toe or getting hit with a paintball, you can consciously tell yourself that it doesn't hurt. And it won't. Usually at least.

In the last tournament I played in, I wore a sleeveless underamor shirt and got bunkered. Twice. I was bleeding from at least four places on my back and arms, but you just have to force yourself to ignore it and it will go away.

Trust me. I'm not trying to sound like a hard***. It's a trick that is useful in a lot of situations.

I've had *******s with their full auto mil sim markers shoot me more times than I have had someone in speedball. Usually in speedball they're just putting out a rope hoping one hits you or keeps you down enough so they can advance. When you yell you're hit they'll stop said rope in your direction. If you get up too soon you might get hit with whats left of said rope. Just as long as you make it clear that you are hit, you shouldn't have an issue.

Thats where most new players get intimidated is the rope coming at them. Just remember, they'll have to reload or you can lay a rope right back at them. Getting bunkered hurts, sometimes, but if you're just laying in one bunker the entire time and not in the snake, you deserve it. A lot of people get intimidated like I said by the rope and how fast paced/aggressive it can get. Which, that is what makes it fun and brings that adrenaline rush you got when you first played right back.

Also, as said, its all in your mind. It won't kill you. Plus, next round, if its that big of a deal to you, you will get the chance to do it right back!

I've been hurt worse in woodsball than I have in speedball. Pain is mainly psychological anyways

In terms of speedball injury, I have only ever been hurt by clumsy technique on my part and that of other players. While holding a bunker in the snake I got bunkered but got crashed into by the guy. In another instance I slipped on wet grass after a good rain, tripped and sprained my ankle. Never have I been hurt by equipment misuse on my part or that of another. The risks are even in my opinion when it comes to both speed and woods ball.

If you are focused on the game with your mind set on the opponents. You won't feel anything.

it may hurt a few times when you get bonus balled, but once your attention starts to focus on the game and not the pain you will become better.

The only time where I have really been in pain was getting bunkered and getting hit on the backside of my neck, that left a hell of a welt.

The pain is what makes paintball fun for me. If it didn't hurt you might as well be playing with nurf guns. Plus you can wear the welts like a badge of honor. The pain is the incentive to get better so you don't get hit as often. Just go balls out your first time, I guarantee you will come out of that course with a hell of a grin on your face.

I've had hits hurt more in rec ball/woodsball than in speedball. Mostly from friendly fire and getting hit in the back of the head or neck from a negligent player on my own team.

My experience playing speedball is that people look out for eachother. Anytime I've gotten lit up or bonus balled, the player responsible has come up and either apologized to explained. No big deal.
