So adding a bunch more teams sounds very likely. And moving rosters to 12 sounds likely.

That's 2 extras bodies per previous pro team plus 12 times however many new teams.

Seems to me there are going to be a ton of brand new pro players this year.

So theoretically last year there were 120 pro players, 12 teams with 10 players each.

This year if they have two divisions of ten teams with 12 man rosters that makes 240. Or in essence doubling the number of pro players.

Some teams already had more players than roster spots in previous years, especially in cases where they played NPPL. I know XSV had players that weren't at Cup with them, but still play pro. Also, three teams have come to PSP that weren't playing before. So in reality I'd guess ~70 new pro players.

I don't get why people keep saying semi pro. All psp did was made it so there can be more pro teams with out adding extra days. They are just going to show case the teams that have been on fire or are power teams if you will that are on top of their game. Let's say that fox is the only one that can air a NFL game. There are two games at the same time. Do they air both at the same time? No they go with the power teams that are playing that will get the best views and what not. Or go with this. If a NFL pro team plays on a middle school field does that make them any less pro? Just bc a pro team doesn't play on the main field doesn't make them semi pro.
Also with the two fields playing I would like to see that maybe for the lunch break on the webcast that they show some games from the other field or maybe highlights. Some thing else besides just the field sitting there that no one really watches. That way it would be nonstop action and more air time for the ads that people will watch.

It blows my mind how crucial this makes event 4.
mfw heat, damage, and russians all choke and play challenger for wc.

Only two teams drop down...

Plus, when you consider points, winning World Cup doesn't mean the slightest bit more than winning any other event. I'm not seeing how this makes the fourth event "crucial."

Series title doesn't matter anything. Everybody wants to win WC more than the series.

it's crucial because the teams that do badly in event 4 wont get the opportunity to play in the "champions" division for cup

Again, World Cup is no more important to the series title than any other event.

The series title means almost jack ****. If you think world cup is no more important than any other event, you havent been to a world cup. Its the biggest event in the world on the biggest stage with the most at stake. Being a world champion is worth more than any series championship.

This season there will be the 14 pro teams from World Cup plus Ton Tons. I would assume Topgun, Texas Storm, and RNT Allstars will be invited to the challengers division because they took top 3 last season (so that would mean a total of 17 teams in the pro division at Dallas)

But here is what I still dont get?
Teams/players from last year that have been ranked up to "semi pro" because of APPA points, will they have to go into the challengers division? They cant play D1 if the whole team is ranked semi-pro

Also can any D1 team that wins an event, be invited to the challengers division the next event? I dont think this is true because it would dramatically effect their season d1 rankings

Isnít the point of all this to sell water-balloons and ďchew the fatĒ of our Nationís soft core violent interests? How does this do that?

Instead of acting to work with others the PSP continues to cater to the like-mindedness of an overly burdened marketplace in the hopes of selling a privatized game format. I donít know how these people can afford to put together a package like this, both in the sense of purpose and financially.

Basically it guarantees that half of the former Pro teams working towards investment are now ďchallengersĒ? The PSP rips off an NPPL stand-by division, but instead cuts its leading marketing production in half?

They werenít selling hot dogs to begin with, how will they ever convince those mutts to stick around?

The further down this path they go the more convinced I am that tournament paintball appeals to those without creativity in a vacuum of sales.

Statistics show that sameness in social environments produces asymmetry and eventually polarization to the point of, letís just say, moral and evolutionary bankruptcy. Iím sure there isnít a far off corollary here.

(Then again, I play for free, so none of this effects me whatsoever. What can I say, I am bias.).
You sound like one of those people who runs their rants through a thesaurus in order to sound intelligent.

Anyway, the teams that will be populating the Challengers division will have an opportunity to win their way up to Champions. Just because people were given the chance to play Pro doesn't mean they've earned it. Teams like Aftershock will have to prove that they deserve to face the best teams in the world, it won't just be a given anymore.

I've been wondering that too. How do prizes work for the Challengers division?
I was asking out of curiosity, yes moving to championship division is a nice reward but I'm just thinking that d1 teams that are being asked to move to pro and team that now want to join the psp to play pro may need something in addition.
Some teams might think why move to pro if they will be stuck in the challengers all season when they may be a top 5 team in d1. They could think it is more beneficial to stay in d1 to collect prize money and podium finishes if they are not confident that they will be a consistent top 10 team in pro. Yes it's everyone's goal to play pro, yes playing pro is a good learning experience, and yes majority teams never podium and come out empty handed. But if there is a small prize for challengers then teams may be more willing to take the beatings with hope that they will at least get a prize.
I can see ones mentality as we should play another 1-2 seasons in d1, gain more exp, rack up some wins and prizes to help with cost and then once more matured move up.

Maybe as a prize for the challenger bracket could be for the 3&4th place team and just like entry for the next event. The top 2 teams move to champions. Just as an additional motivation to be willing to take the chance and play pro. Now they can justify moving to pro as we will gain great experience and have a chance to play the next event free or best case scenario place top 2 and go to the champions bracket.

Idk though. Really just spitballing and curious.
