I ahve used several barrel systems in my years of paintballing, and havent been a huge fan of the freak barrel, but I think that it shoots great with the Luxe that I have. I am curious about some opinions of getting the rest of the insert kit or perhaps some other suggestions.... I have entertained the idea of getting an Ifit kit but unsure about adding the length to the barrel.

I would get the rest of the Freak inserts before getting the Ifit kit.

I had a freak kit with aluminum bores when the product first came out. I have since sold that and have played with other barrel systems (CP, PE, and Furious). Lately, I purchased a Deadlywinds barrel with stainless freak inserts. This has been my favorite so far. SS bores are so much nicer as they have a higher temperature tolerance than the original aluminum ones.

I have the freak inserts for my luxe barrel and my deadlywind barrel I use on my GT. Always shoots great for me!

i didnt want to throw a freak barrel on my ego...so i had the back bored for freak inerts! works flawlessly...and obviously allows for any size paint.

Awesome.... thanks for all the input guys I am going to get the rest of the freak inserts..... is there any performance difference between the SS and aluminum? I.E. are the SS smoother inside or honed differently than the aluminum ones?

I use a special measuring tool to measure the bore of the inserts aluminum inserts are usually at least 0.0015 over size some of the worst are 0.0035. of the few stainless ones I have they are typically correct as to what is marked +/- 0.001. the finish looks to be about the same but I have not measured it.

I have also seen aluminum inserts where the ID and OD of the insert itself are not concentric. I have had some complaints about my boring where that was actually the issue not my work.

So ur basically saying stick to SS inserts?

or just don't believe what you read and physically check your bore with the paint your using. That is what I do I dont take the number written on the insert as the law I just use it to know should this next insert be bigger or smaller than the one I just tested.
