Like it so far, and hope to see more soon! Would be nice to see the community pitch in some extra barrels to throw in for a more comprehensive result; have seen an offer or so thus far!

Thanks. These barrels I have now have been coming up on the forums a lot lately. Like almost all posts have recommended one of them which is why I decided to do this. CP really has seemed to be recommended a lot less lately. Not many people recommend the bob long. Planet eclipse Shaft is popular because it comes on all there guns but is usually not recommended as an aftermarket. Freak is always popular as well.

Bob Long barrels are made by CP...

This is a very expensive, time consuming, comparison. He's already bought 6 barrels... cut the man a break.
For now I would like to finish everything I have planned with the current barrels before adding more. I originally started with three barrels and am now up to 6. I think once this is done I could add a barrel in and do all the same measurements for it and add it in.

Yes there will be a video. It is about 10* here feeling like 3* with the wind chill. Not exactly motivating me to go outside and shoot a vid but there will be one for sound comparisons.

Can you check the actual bore diameter from tip to tip of the back piece vs the advertised bore diameter. I would like to know which company has the tighter tolerance and precision.

I have taken bore diameters of both the back bore and the tips. The reason this review had taken so long is because of this fact. Obviously I want all barrels the same size but it did not come close to working out that way. I am using a digital caliper and I am getting repeatable results on all barrels. With multiple measurements I always get the same reading. I have tested the calipers against many known objects and they are accurate. I tested against feeler gauges and they measure exact. I will post that info up now.

Bore Sizes:

Measurements taken with a 6” Caliper.

This is where the data gets very tricky. The idea was to eliminate as many variables as possible and make sure all barrels were 0.688/0.689. Unfortunately upon measuring the barrels a lot of them came in not as advertised.

Dye Ultralite:
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Advertised: 0.688”
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Actual: 0.689”
Barrel Front Bore Diameter: 0.700”

Disruptive Deathtouch:
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Advertised: 0.688”
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Actual: 0.692”
Barrel Front Bore Diameter: 0.699”

Furious Lotus:
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Advertised: 0.689”
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Actual: 0.691”
Barrel Front Bore Diameter: 0.695”

Lapco Fuse:
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Advertised: 0.687”
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Actual: 0.690”

Barrel Back Bore Diameter Advertised: 0.691”
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Actual: 0.695”
Barrel Front Bore Diameter: 0.704”

Critical 100g:
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Advertised: 0.692”
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Actual: 0.694”
Barrel Front Bore Diameter: 0.702”

Macdev Shift:
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Advertised: 0.691”
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Actual: 0.693”
Barrel Front Bore Diameter: 0.704”

Discrepancy in bore size from advertised from least to most:
Dye Ultralite: 0.001”
Critical 100g: 0.002”
Furious Lotus: 0.002”
Macdev Shift: 0.002”
Lapco Fuse: 0.003"
Disruptive Deathtouch: 0.004"

JUST FOR FUN I ALSO DID A 0.680 LAPCO FUSE TO COMPARE TO THE 0.691 LAPCO FUSE

Lapco Fuse:
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Advertised: 0.680”
Barrel Back Bore Diameter Actual: 0.683”
Barrel Front Bore Diameter: 0.704”

Average Velocity 304.15 fps

About Efficiency:

Comparing the Lapco Fuse in 0.691 (0.695 actual) and the Lapco Fuse in 0.680 (0.683 actual) there is a 15.3 fps difference. It is hard to say which is the exact order of efficiency on these barrels because they are all different bore sizes but it can be estimated with the data here. Just some notes. The Furious does get really good efficiency but not because of the angled porting they claim. It is because it has a much smaller tip than the rest at 0.695" and the porting is much later in the barrel.

If I had to put the efficiency in order I would say:

Best Efficency to Worst:
Lapco Fuse
Disruptive Deathtouch
Furious Lotus
Critical 100g
Dye Ultralite
Macdev Shift

what balls are you using?

how can you test efficiency without matching paint to bore?

The paint was valken graffiti. Using the same paint on each barrel at the same pressure and taking chrono readings will show which barrel uses the air most efficiently.

But the barrels are not the same diameter. The .680 Lapco shows you that ID matters and needs to be controlled if you want a menaingful comparison. I don't know what you're doing here otherwise.

First I know ideal situation is to have all barrels the same ID. Unfortunately when ordering all barrels in the same ID they do not measure that way. Some of them being way different then advertised. In that case there is nothing I can really do about that. You are not going to find all the barrels in the same ID without getting all of them in a kit and then measuring all and comparing the most similar ones. Also I did say it is hard to make an exact comparison because of the fact they are varying bore sizes but with the data you can get close. The order I put is as educated guess as I could make. If a .689 Ultralite chronos the same as a .691 Furious Lotus. Obviously the Furious is more efficient.

other than measuring the actual bores for everyone, the efficiency testing is rather meaningless.

up next I calculated total porting area to see which barrel has the most porting. should be posted in a day or two.

Anything specific you guys want to see? A video for sound comparison is coming.

It never ceases to amaze me how no matter how much work someone puts into reviewing something on here, people will complain. Sure parts testing could be more technical, but this at least gives a good idea of the performance people are getting with a number of the top barrels out there. Kudos for taking the time to do all of this.
