yesh, the plan is to put a threaded pin to secure it. When the bolt guide poped out it didn't damage the threads, so i can still thread it in, i just need a little bit of extra holding power so the threads don't deform and let it pop out again.

so after MUCH tinkering with the V3 body, I hate to admit it, but body V3 a bust
The main body is good, and the air passages underneath are good, but the interface between the two is not. Pretty sure my method is good, but the use of delrin as the securing medium was not. IT's too darn slippery and NOTHING will bond to it well enough to hold air pressure. Air seems to find its way out the bonding seams which makes for tiny little leaks everywhere.
So...on to body V4!

Just machine it all from 1 solid piece of delrin fot the bodyday and airyou passages then you wouldn't have to bond them. And I know easier said than done just a sugestion if you hadn't already thought of it.

also. why dont you consider making moulds for teh hodlers and then casting them from resin? or just make resin blocks and machine your way to the holders?

becasue I want it to be made mostly of carbon fiber!
I ordered more carbon today that I THINK I can replace most of the delrin blocks with. I'm not making them from pure resin becasue they would be incredibly fragile then, and since I have the frame mounting screws in them....well, you get the idea..

what about carbon fiber sheets cut in the shape of the holders and then have those held together by resin.

not a bust...just busy. I have to start from scratch again, so I'm taking this opportunity to finish up a few other projects before jumping back on this.

wow... 41 pages... only skipped two. Saw things from star wars, thats what she said, robot chicken.... some (fast food?) drink locally, nomnomnom...
great concept, I have wanted to do a full mag body out of cf and just have the feed tube area be metal (where the bolt spring seats) but i dont see how the CF can mold around it and fit the rail withoud modding the rail? it would be a hell of a lot lighter than a stainless body, thats for sure..
keep it up, you'll get it! I do have one small suggestion or thought though... i know this is "all carbon fiber" but if you are having air leaks and dont feel the resin or delrin can handle it. why not use small diameter aluminum tube (microline size) and thin aluminum where you did the delrin rings on v3.0, the weight will be negligable. plus the aluminum tubing and bracing down the bottom of the body could help things stay rigid..
just a thought, you are probably ten steps ahead but it doesnt hurt to throw out there.
