Well, he's in my shop, he's just head of a different section.

Ain't in Jokinawa anymore lol. And it's not even the unit, all the other companies and platoons are allowed to get them. I'm with an LAR bn. **** pisses me off, might as well be part of the chow hall crew.
Do you report to him? Does he give you tasking? Is he going to be writing your evaluations and awards? Doing your inspections? etc etc.

The ****er can work in the same cubicle as you, and still not be in your chain.

No, actually he doesn't. Good ****ing point. Always kind of wanted to know what staff nco's had jurisdiction. I don't even report to this ******* in any fashion, he just works in my shop.

I'll let you guys know if he says anything to me tomorrow. Interested on how this will play out. Thanks, if anything, this made me feel a little better.

**** on me all day and I'll brush it off in the end, correct me on my god damned hair and it ruins my ****in week.

I did this same thing when I was deployed, but it was a medium fade. Some douchebag SSG FO [not an infantryman] in my platoon had it out for me. His main goal was to destroy my reputation, because his friend slept with my wife and was in trouble for it [transferred out of my platoon]. I said my hair was within regulation and went to the CO. I ended up having to shave my head the rest of deployment [only I had to shave my head], because if I didn't, it would be insubordination. The 1sg disagreed, but told me I had to follow the ****head's orders. The designated barber in the platoon shaved my head into a mohawk and had several people take a picture of it before he shaved it all off.

If nobody above you works for him, then you don't work for him. Disregard if you really are in the right. Also, report that **** to YOUR chain of command.

That is actually hazing by ****ing definition. There is an explicit section of the hair regulation order saying that no person will be forced to shave their head unless in recruit training.

Yeah fool, you could have gotten all of them bucked down. That's straight hazing haha. I feel bad for you if that did happen, but all you needed to do is read the order, it is specific to what happened to you.

So, my snco blasted him. A ssgt blasting a ssgt for calling him weak. And then my ssgt was talking to me and said "how can his fatass correct someone's appearance when he can't even maintain weight standards. No one gives a **** about a god damned haircut." And I shook his hand and said thanks. He's a great guy. I'm still gonna be under scrutiny for my hair, but I feel I'll have the highers on my side, other than him. Now just for this ****ing sgt straight off the di field that makes us button our sleeves and pull our boot blousing's up...

Ya know, it's people like him that will change the military around for the better. I'm not a yes man either and I will question all the dumb****, especially in front of the lowers so they can see how ****ing stupid it really is. So one day, if they stay in, they can look back and go, I don't want to be THAT leader.

My platoon in general was hazed much in Iraq, until the CO put out a memorandum against hazing. I wasn't into reading all the regulations, I was more into reading the land nav, m4, mortar, and sniper field manuals. It wasn't until the last year in the military that I started to read regulation manuals. I really wish I knew about that order. I don't know if that is marine specific or goes into all branches including army.

I mean, where do i draw the line? The order is the order, is it not? I signed a contract saying I will abide by all rules and regulations of the UCMJ. The UCMJ clearly states the haircut order.

It's the principle of the matter really. This guy blasted me, calling me a *******, calling my whole section, specifically my sgts *******es, and then went on to calling my snco a "weak snco." Is there a god damned order on professionalism? I'm a Corporal. He shouldn't be saying that type of **** in front of me. Not to mention, this man is overweight. So how can I turn this around on him? He wrote me a counseling sheet on it, which my sgt said hes going to tear up behind his back.
My comment still stands. You have to deal with this **** because you joined the marines.

I'm definitely one to question. I feel if people don't question authority or step on the lines in daily life, then they won't do it in any other situation. Sometimes life pushes you to step on lines, or step on authority. It'll just be up to you to actually do it.

It's *******s like him who will just get walked on all day and have nothing to say in the end but "thank you."

When were you in Iraq? I have a feeling the shaved head order is fairly recent, probably within the last 5 years once hazing became a huge controversy.

I don't think that last part should stand. Not when the Marine Corps is governed by a set of written rules. I signed the contract saying I will abide by the rules and regulations governing the UCMJ. Not one that said I will abide by all rules that are made up because some power-hungry homo doesn't know the order.

Yeah, or just a normal human being. There's the military guys, usually Marines, that will do whatever they are told. Which is a good quality, but they need to have a human aspect to themselves. You can't lead if you don't have an ounce of humanity in you. Your decision making skills aren't solely based on what you're trained on. And it sometimes comes down to little things like haircuts that can lay the plates down for larger things that may come later. Questioning authority is questioning authority, no matter the size of the question.
